That Saturday Night Live, it’s a thing, ain’t it? Always some big shot up there, telling jokes, singing songs. You know, I seen it on the television, that big old box we got. My grandson, he hooked it up, says it gets all the channels now.
Last night, I seen that fella, what’s his name… Shorty? Yeah, Martin Short. He was on that show, that Saturday Night Live thing, last night. He was the one doing all the talking and carrying on. He was what they call the “host”, you see. He was the big cheese last night on that SNL.
That show, Saturday Night Live, it’s been on forever, seems like. My old man, bless his soul, he used to watch it. Said it was funny. They got all them young folks, acting silly. They call ’em cast members, like they’re in some kinda play. Some of them come back and host, just like that Martin Short did.
And that other fella, Baldwin, Alec Baldwin, that’s his name. He’s been on there a whole mess of times, more than anybody, I reckon. They said he was on there seventeen times. That’s a lot of Saturdays! He must really like being on that SNL show. That Alec, he took it from that Steve Martin guy. Steve, he was on that Saturday Night Live a whole bunch too, sixteen times I hear.
They always got someone different on there, that Saturday Night Live. Keeps it fresh, I guess. That’s what my granddaughter says. She watches it all the time, that Saturday Night Live. Says it’s important to know who’s gonna be on there, who is the SNL host.
They play music, too, you know. Not just the talking and the acting silly. They got that band, they play that music when they go to the commercials, and when they come back. And at the end, they got that song they always play. That Saturday Night Live, it’s a whole production.
They start real late, though. 11:30 at night, that Saturday Night Live comes on. Past my bedtime, usually. But sometimes, I stay up and watch it. Especially if it’s someone I know, like that Martin Short.
That other woman, what was her name? Wigg? Kristen Wiig. She was on that SNL show a bunch of times. They said she was on there five times! She got some kind of jacket for being on there so much. That Saturday Night Live, they sure do have their own way of doing things.
I heard they gonna have some other folks on there soon, on that Saturday Night Live. Some lady named Smart, Jean Smart. And some other fella, Nate something. They like to have singers on there too. Some fella named Jelly Roll, and that group, Coldplay. They gonna be on that Saturday Night Live, I hear. They will be the SNL host, just like that Martin Short was last night.
It’s a big deal, being on that Saturday Night Live, I reckon. You gotta be somebody to get on there. You gotta be a good SNL host, make people laugh. That Martin Short, he did alright, I suppose. He’s been around a long time, that one. He knows how to be a good SNL host.

You know, I don’t always get what they’re talking about on that Saturday Night Live. But it’s something to watch. And it’s kinda fun to see who’s gonna be on there, who is the SNL host each week. Keeps you guessing. That Saturday Night Live, it’s a real hootenanny, ain’t it?
That Martin Short, he is 74 years old! Can you believe that? He was a good SNL host, though. He kept me awake, that’s for sure. That Saturday Night Live, it’s always something different.
I wonder who they gonna have on there next week. Maybe I’ll stay up and watch. If I can keep my eyes open that late. That Saturday Night Live, it’s a mystery who will be the SNL host next week, ain’t it?
