Okay, so, I saw this thing online about the US Open, and it just blew up, like, everyone’s talking about it. It’s this video, and it’s got everything – drama, drinks, and tennis, kinda. I just had to try and see what was going on and if I could do it myself, so here’s what happened.

Digging into the Hype
First, I watched this video everyone was going crazy about. It’s at the US Open, and there’s this guy holding these pink drinks, and it looks like he’s getting totally ignored by the girl he’s with. Then, there’s another dude who swoops in and hands her a drink. It’s awkward and funny, and I get why it went viral. People were making all these memes and comments, it was a whole thing.
Then I find out these pink drinks are called Honey Deuces, and they’re, like, the official drink of the US Open. I had no idea! They’re made with Grey Goose vodka, raspberry stuff, and lemonade. And get this – they cost $23 a pop at the Open, and people buy, like, a gazillion of them. I mean that is expensive! I figured it would cost me way less to make one myself and not deal with the hassle of finding parking and a ticket. So, I’m thinking, I gotta try making one of these drinks and see what the fuss is all about.
Making My Own Honey Deuce
I looked up the recipe, and it seemed easy enough. You just mix the vodka with the raspberry liqueur and lemonade. But the real star is the garnish – these little honeydew melon balls that look like tennis balls. Cute, right? I went to the grocery store, grabbed everything I needed, and got to work.
- The mixing: I just followed the instructions and dumped everything into a shaker with some ice. Easy peasy.
- The melon balls: Okay, this was a little tricky. I didn’t have one of those fancy melon ballers, so I used a small spoon. It worked, but they weren’t perfectly round like in the pictures. Close enough, though.
I poured the drink into a glass, added the melon balls, and took a sip. Honestly, it was pretty good! Refreshing, a little sweet, and definitely something I’d drink on a hot day, especially if I was watching tennis, I guess. But was it worth $23? Probably not. Plus, I didn’t get snubbed by anyone while making it, so that’s a bonus.
Final Thoughts
So, after all that, I think the viral video was more about the awkward moment than the drink itself. The Honey Deuce is cool and all, but it’s not exactly life-changing. It was fun to make, though, and now I can say I’ve tried the famous US Open drink. Maybe next year, I’ll make a big batch for a US Open watch party, minus the drama, hopefully. Or I will just buy a normal drink without all the hassle, we will see. I mean, I was able to make the drink myself, which was super cool, but I don’t think it was worth the hassle, so I might have to change my mind, who knows.
