Why is Every Tyreek Meme So Funny Lately (Understanding the Humor Behind the Viral Trend)

Alright, let’s talk about this “tyreek meme” thing I messed around with today. It was kinda dumb, but also kinda fun, so I figured I’d share how I went about it.

So, first thing’s first, I saw this meme floating around – you know, the one with Tyreek Hill looking super fast and people photoshopping him into ridiculous situations. I thought, “Hey, I could probably do that,” even though I’m no Photoshop wizard or anything.

I started by grabbing a good picture of Tyreek. Just Googled “Tyreek Hill running meme” and found a bunch of images. Picked one that was high-res and had a clean background – made things easier later.

Next up, I fired up GIMP. Yeah, I’m a cheapskate, I don’t have Photoshop. GIMP’s free and does the job, even if it’s a bit clunky sometimes.

Okay, so here’s where the fun started. I wanted to put Tyreek in some ridiculous scenarios. First thing that came to mind was him running from a dinosaur. Don’t ask me why.

  • I Googled “T-Rex image” and grabbed one that looked suitably menacing.
  • Then, I carefully cut out Tyreek from his original background. This took a while, and it wasn’t perfect, but whatever. Used the free select tool in GIMP and just traced around him as best I could.
  • Pasted Tyreek onto the dinosaur image. Resized him to make it look like he was actually running away.
  • Added a little blur to Tyreek to make him look even faster. Just used the Gaussian blur filter in GIMP. Messed with the settings until it looked right.
  • Finally, added some text: “Me running from my responsibilities.” Classic.

After the dinosaur one, I got a bit carried away. I put him:

  • Running from a swarm of bees.
  • Running from a Karen.
  • Running from student loan debt.

Each time, it was the same process: find an image, cut out Tyreek, paste him in, resize, blur, add text. The cutting out part was the most annoying, but I got faster at it as I went along.

To be honest, the memes weren’t that great. They were kinda funny to me, but I’m easily amused. I posted them on my Discord server, and people got a few laughs out of them, so I guess it was worth it.

The whole thing took maybe a couple of hours, and it was a good way to kill some time. Plus, I got a little better at using GIMP, which is always a good thing.

So yeah, that’s my “tyreek meme” experience. Nothing groundbreaking, but it was a fun little project. Maybe I’ll try something more ambitious next time.
