So, the other day, I got this itch, you know? Started thinking about old-school NBA, specifically the time when Magic and Bird were really running things. The year 1987 popped into my head. I couldn’t quite remember how all the teams stacked up that season, just the big dogs.
Naturally, the first thing I did was grab my phone, opened up a browser. Didn’t do anything fancy, just typed in something like ‘nba standings 1987’. Pretty straightforward stuff.
Got a bunch of results back, obviously. Some sites looked kinda cluttered, others were pushing current season stuff at me. Had to scroll a bit, squint at the screen. You know how it is, sometimes the simple info you want is buried under flashy graphics or ads.
Clicked on one that looked like it just listed sports stats. Seemed promising. Took a second to load, then bam, there it was. A simple page, just text mostly, showing the divisions and the records for the 1986-1987 season.
Took a moment to actually look through it.
Okay, yeah, Lakers and Celtics way up top, no surprise there. Over 60 wins for the Lakers, Celtics not far behind. Man, they were dominant. Then you see the Pistons starting to look tough, Jordan’s Bulls were getting better but not quite there yet. It’s funny how looking at a simple list of wins and losses brings back memories of watching those games, or highlights at least.

Saw some teams I completely forgot were even around then, or how badly they were doing. The Clippers… well, some things don’t change much, huh? At least back then.
Didn’t really need to double-check it, the numbers looked right based on what I vaguely remembered. It wasn’t like I was doing deep research, just wanted a quick look to satisfy that curiosity.
So yeah, that was it. Just a quick search, a bit of scrolling, and found what I needed. Simple task, really. It’s good to refresh the memory sometimes, put those old rivalries back into perspective. That ’87 season was pretty key, right before Detroit and then Chicago took over the league.
