So, today was the day I thought I’d try that move. You know the one. Saw it somewhere, guy named Nick something-or-other supposedly famous for it. Looked flashy. Figured, why not? Boredom, maybe? Or maybe just proving I’m not totally over the hill yet.
First part, the stretching. Good grief. My body just doesn’t bend that way anymore. Haven’t tried touching my toes since… well, let’s just say it’s been a while. Every joint was screaming. Spent a good half hour just groaning on the floor. Even the cat walked away, disgusted.
Then came the ‘action’ part
Yeah, right. Action. Tried the kick thing. Legs went one way, balance went the other. Nearly ended up headfirst in the laundry basket. Managed to twist something in my back instead. Nothing serious, just that dull ache that says, “You’re an idiot.”
Made me think about that ridiculous ‘team building’ exercise the boss made us do last spring. Climbing walls and falling into nets. Supposed to build trust. Mostly just built resentment and sore muscles. Same feeling now. Pointless exertion leading to mild injury and annoyance.
- Warm-up: A joke. Mostly complaining.
- The Move: Failed spectacularly. Minor back tweak.
- Lesson Learned: Stick to what you know. Or at least, what doesn’t involve potential visits to the chiropractor.
Some things just aren’t worth the effort, you know? Like trying to get those neighbors to turn their music down after 10 PM. You try, you fail, you end up grumpy. Decided forget it. Went and made a strong coffee instead. That’s a skill I’ve actually mastered. And it rarely results in back pain.
