So, I was poking around the web earlier today, just checking box scores and seeing what’s up with the Utah Jazz lately. Noticed Walker Kessler wasn’t in the recent action, which got me curious. I like watching him play, you know, big presence down low.

Apparently, it’s linked to him getting over being sick recently. Makes sense, sometimes it takes a bit to get your wind back after being under the weather.

Yeah, so he’s definitely sidelined for the moment because of that recovery stuff. It’s a bummer. Before this, looking at his stats for this season, seemed like he was having a pretty decent run. I saw numbers like around 11 points and grabbing something like 12 rebounds per game across the 57 games he did play. That’s solid production you miss when a guy’s out.
While I was looking, I saw some chatter about who might step up. Names like Kyle Filipowski and Oscar Tshiebwe popped up as guys likely getting more minutes on the floor while Kessler is getting back up to speed. Always interesting to see how teams adjust when a key guy is missing.
Looking at the Bigger Picture
It got me thinking about his overall game too. I pulled up his career numbers with the Jazz. Let’s see, it looks like over his few seasons there, he’s been averaging something like:
- Points: Around 9 per game
- Rebounds: Just over 9 per game
- Blocks: A really impressive 2.4 blocks per game
That blocking number really stands out, shows his defensive impact. He’s played, what, close to 200 games for them now? So yeah, he’s become a pretty core piece for them down there in the paint.
Anyway, that’s what I found out about the Kessler situation. Just gotta wait and see when he’s feeling 100% again and ready to get back out there. Hopefully, the conditioning thing resolves quickly for him.
