Colin Kaepernick 40 Yard Dash – He’s a Fast One, That Boy!
That Colin Kaepernick, he sure can run! I heard folks talking ’bout his 40-yard dash. What’s a 40-yard dash? Sounds like something my old man used to do when the dinner bell rang. Anyway, they say this Colin fella is faster than a greased piglet at the county fair. He played football, ya know. Not that hand-egg the young’uns play around here. Real football. He’s not playing no more though. Some ruckus about kneeling during some song or other.

This boy, Colin, he used to play for some team called the 49ers. Don’t ask me where that is. Somewhere out west, I reckon. He was a quarterback, they say. That’s the fella who throws the ball, right? Well, this Colin could throw, but he could also run like a scalded dog. I seen some fast boys in my day, but this one… he’s something else. They got this thing called a combine. Like them big machines that harvest the corn, but this one’s for football players. They make ’em run and jump and lift things. It’s a real show, I hear.
And this Colin Kaepernick 40 time at that combine was real fast, 4.53, they said. Now, I don’t know what that means exactly, but I know fast when I see it. Faster than my neighbor’s rooster when he’s chasing a hen. This one fella said it was the second fastest for quarterbacks that year. Second only to some other fella named Tyrod Taylor. Ain’t that a name? He ran a 4.51. They must time these boys with a fancy clock or something.
- Colin Kaepernick, 40-yard dash: 4.53 seconds
- That’s faster than a hiccup, I tell ya!
- He ran like the wind, that boy.
They say he was good at college, too. Played for some team called the Nevada Wolf Pack. Sounds fierce, don’t it? They said he was the best in some conference called the WAC. He could pass the ball real far, and he could run with it, too. They say he ran and threw for more yards than anyone ever. Lots of numbers, these football folks like. All I know is, he must have been a real handful for the other team. There ain’t many who can throw and run that fast, I mean really fast. 10,000 yards throwing and 4,000 rushing. That’s a lot of ground to cover, even for a young fella.
Some other young fella, name of Johnny Manziel, he ran fast, too. 4.56, they said. Close, but no cigar, as they say. They showed them running side-by-side on the TV. Like a horse race, but with people. Another one, Mariota, he ran a 4.52. Lord have mercy, these boys are fast! It’s like watching a bunch of jackrabbits on the field.
Why All the Fuss About This 40-Yard Dash?
Well, I’ll tell ya, being fast is a big deal in football. The faster you are, the harder you are to catch. And if you’re the one doing the catching, well, the faster you are, the more likely you are to get that ball. This Colin fella, he was fast, and that made him a real threat on the field. He could run around them other fellas like they were standing still. He was good, no denying that. In one game, they say he ran 181 yards. That’s like running from my house to the general store and back… twice! And that was in the playoffs, too. Like the finals, if you like.

I don’t know much about this Colin Kaepernick 40 yard stuff. It is a big deal in football. But I do remember hearing he caused some stir. He started kneeling during the anthem, they say. Something about protesting. I don’t get into all that, but I know he ain’t playing no more. Shame, really. He was a good player, that Colin. Fast as lightning, that one. He sure could run that 40-yard dash. Faster than a chicken with its head cut off, I reckon. 4.53 seconds. I still don’t know exactly what it means, but I know it is fast.
They got all these fancy numbers and things nowadays. 40-time, speed score, SPARQ, QBR, it’s all a jumble to me. Back in my day, we just knew who was fast and who wasn’t. We didn’t need no fancy clocks to tell us. But I guess things are different now. Still, one thing’s for sure, that Colin Kaepernick 40 yard dash time was something to behold. That boy could run!
