What features can you find in v.0? (A quick guide covering all the basics in this initial release)

Getting Started, Finally

Alright, so I finally decided to get this thing going. You know how it is, you think about doing something for ages, maybe sketch out some ideas, but actually starting? That’s the hard part. This whole ‘v.0’ thing is basically me just forcing myself to put something down, anything really.

So, first thing I did was just grab the simplest tool I could think of. Didn’t want to get bogged down choosing the ‘perfect’ stack or whatever. Found this super basic static site generator. People kept telling me, “Oh, you should use this framework, or that platform.” Honestly, too much noise. I just wanted to get words on a page, you know? So, I installed the thing. Took a couple of tries, messed up the path variable thingy like I always do. Classic.

Then I just started writing. Didn’t even have a proper theme or look. Just the default white page, black text. Felt kinda raw, but good. Like laying the first brick, even if it’s crooked.

Making Something Appear

The main goal for this ‘v.0’ was simple:

  • Get some text to show up online.
  • Figure out how to push it somewhere public.
  • Don’t spend weeks planning it.

I fiddled around with the basic commands. Took me a bit to understand how it turned my plain text files into actual web pages. Lots of trial and error. I’d type something, run the build command, check the output folder. Mostly just seeing if my sentences appeared. It wasn’t pretty. Not at all. But it was there. That was the point.

Getting it online was the next step. Again, went for the easiest option I knew. Found a simple hosting place that just takes static files. Uploaded the generated stuff. Boom. It was live. Just a bare page with some rambling text, but it was mine, and it was out there.

Why This Way?

Honestly, I’ve started projects before where I spent forever planning. Drawing diagrams, comparing tools, reading endless articles. You know what happened? Nothing. Got stuck in analysis paralysis, as they say. Ended up abandoning them before even writing a single line of actual stuff.

It reminds me of this one time, years ago, I wanted to build a custom bookshelf. Spent weeks drawing plans, calculating angles, researching wood types. By the time I felt ‘ready’, I’d lost all motivation. The wood sat in the garage for months before I finally just slapped together something basic using a simpler plan. It wasn’t the masterpiece I designed, but it held my books. It worked.

So, this ‘v.0’ is like that bookshelf. It’s not perfect, it’s probably ugly, and it’s missing a lot. But it exists. It’s a start. And sometimes, just starting is the most important thing. You can always build on it later, right? Make it v.1, v.2, whatever. But you gotta have that v.0 first.
