Getting Ready for the Shoot
So, I had this idea to get some pictures of the Lake Pleasant Golf Course. Woke up, looked outside, seemed like a decent enough day for it. Wasn’t planning anything major, just wanted to capture the place, you know? See what it actually looks like through a lens.

First thing, had to dig out my camera. It’s not the newest model, kinda bulky, but it does the job. Checked the battery – thankfully, I remembered to charge it the other day. Found an SD card that wasn’t full, popped that in. Didn’t bother with tripods or extra lenses, just the standard one. Kept it simple. Grabbed my keys, wallet, and headed out the door.
Driving Over and Arriving
The drive over wasn’t too bad. Put on some music. Was thinking about what kind of shots I wanted. Maybe some wide views showing the course layout, maybe focus on the greens, the sand traps, that sort of thing. Especially wanted to see how the course looked against the desert landscape and maybe the lake, if visible.
Pulled into the parking lot. Wasn’t packed, but a few cars around. People getting ready to play. I wasn’t there to golf, just for the photos, so I tried to stay out of the way. First impression? It looked pretty green, which is always a bit surprising out here in the desert. The layout seemed nice enough from the entrance area.
Walking Around and Taking Pictures
Okay, so I started walking. Stuck to the edges, paths, and areas around the clubhouse mostly. Didn’t want to interfere with any golfers – that’s just common courtesy, right? Found a spot near what looked like the first tee. Took a few shots looking down the fairway. The grass looked decent.
Moved along the cart path a bit. Tried to get some different angles. The light was getting a little bright, mid-morning sun. Makes it tricky sometimes, creates harsh shadows. Had to fiddle with the camera settings a bit to compensate. Found a spot where you could see some of the hills in the background behind a green. Clicked a few there. That contrast between the green grass and the brown hills is always interesting.

- Snapped photos of the practice green.
- Got a few shots of the sand traps – textures, you know.
- Tried to capture any water features I could easily access. There was a small pond thing, got some reflections.
- Looked for unique trees or plants on the course borders.
Spent maybe an hour or so just wandering the accessible parts. Saw some golfers out, gave them space. No amazing action shots or anything, just documenting the place itself. Some areas looked really well-maintained, others maybe less so, but that’s pretty normal.
Wrapping Up and Heading Home
Felt like I had enough pictures for what I wanted. The sun was getting higher, harsher light anyway. Decided to call it a day there. Walked back to the car, camera felt heavy like always. The drive back was easy, just thinking about whether I got anything usable.
Got home, took the SD card out, and plugged it into the computer. Quickly scrolled through the photos. Yeah, pretty much what I expected. Decent shots of the course, the landscape. Nothing spectacular, but a good record of the visit. Didn’t even bother with much editing, just filed them away. It was a straightforward morning, got the pictures I went for. Job done.
