Okay, let’s talk about this supermoto thing. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while, and I finally got around to it.

First, I had to learn to ride a motorcycle. I mean, you can’t just jump on one of these things and expect to know what you’re doing. So, I took some lessons, practiced a lot, and got pretty good at it, if I do say so myself.
Then, I had to find a place to actually do this supermoto thing. I found a local group that does track days at a nearby racetrack. I signed up for a few of those and kept practicing. I got to the point where I was holding my own with the faster riders.
Now, about these supermoto bikes. They’re kinda like those motocross bikes, you know, with the really long suspension, but they’re street-legal and have regular street tires on them. They are not like enduro bikes, which I guess are more for long rides on the street and some dirt roads.
Basically, a supermoto is a bike that’s made for racing on tracks that have both dirt and paved sections. It’s usually a regular motorcycle that’s been modified with bigger wheels and tires.
The Actual Riding Part
- Getting the Gear: I made sure I got the right safety gear. Helmet, leathers, boots, gloves – the whole nine yards. You don’t want to skimp on this stuff.
- Starting Slow: I didn’t just go full throttle right away. I took my time getting used to the bike and the track.
- Finding the Line: Figuring out the best way around the track was a big part of it. You want to be smooth and efficient.
- Leaning In: This is the fun part! Getting those lean angles in the corners is a real thrill.
- Dirt vs. Pavement: Switching between the dirt and paved sections was a challenge at first, but I got the hang of it.
- Practice, Practice, Practice: Like anything, it takes practice to get good at this. I spent a lot of time on the track, just working on my skills.
It was a blast! It’s definitely something I’m going to keep doing. Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned rider, if you’re thinking about trying supermoto, I say go for it! It’s a great way to push your limits and have a ton of fun.

So there you have it. That’s my supermoto experience so far. It’s been a wild ride, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next. Keep the rubber side down!
