Steal Jason Days Sweater Style: Tips & Tricks for Every Budget!

I got really into this idea of recreating celebrity outfits, you know? Specifically, I wanted to try my hand at making that “Jason Day’s sweater” everyone’s been talking about. It looked simple enough, but also kinda cool, so I thought, why not?

Steal Jason Days Sweater Style: Tips & Tricks for Every Budget!

First thing I did was look up a bunch of pictures of the sweater. I wanted to get a good sense of the design, the fit, and the material. It seemed like a pretty standard crew neck, but with a unique pattern.

  • Finding the right yarn: This was a bit tricky. I went to a couple of local craft stores, trying to find something that matched the color and texture. Eventually, I found this one yarn that was just perfect. Not too expensive either, which was a bonus!
  • Figuring out the pattern: I’m not exactly a knitting expert, so I spent a good amount of time searching online for a basic sweater pattern that I could modify. I found a few that seemed promising, printed them out, and started comparing.
  • Starting to knit: Okay, this was the hardest part. I cast on the stitches, following the pattern as closely as I could. There were definitely a few moments where I messed up and had to unravel rows, which was frustrating. But I kept at it.
  • Adding the design: Once I had the basic body of the sweater done, it was time to add the pattern that makes it the “Jason Day’s sweater.” This involved a lot of counting stitches and making sure everything lined up. It was slow going, but I was determined to get it right.

After what felt like forever, I finally finished the sweater! It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of myself. I tried it on, and it actually fit pretty well. I even wore it out a couple of times, and I got a few compliments, which was cool.

Overall, it was a fun project. It was definitely challenging at times, but it was really satisfying to see the finished product. And hey, I saved a bunch of money compared to buying the real thing, even though the official one is really expensive! I heard that it is over two hundred US dollars! I only spent like less than one-tenth of that! Would I do it again? Maybe! It would be cool to try and recreate some other iconic celebrity outfits.

One more thing, if you plan to make it, too, you should be extremely confident! Because it helps a lot and you should be prepared for when you do get noticed. This is my top tip.
