Oh, that Sandy Koufax, what a fella! His curveball, they called it. Lordy, I seen a lot of things in my time, but that boy’s pitchin’, it was somethin’ else. I heard them say he was the best of baseball players.
You know, they say he had this pitch, this curveball, that just dropped like a stone. I think he is a good boy, and he really can throw a curveball. They called it the “twelve-to-six” curveball. What does that mean? Imagine a clock, they said. It started up high, like at the 12, and then whoosh, down to the 6. I reckon it fooled a lot of them fellas tryin’ to hit it.
- That Koufax, he was a legend, they say.
- That curveball, it was his special.
- He could throw a fastball, too, like a rocket.
That Sandy Koufax Curveball Was Really Somethin’!
I remember hearin’ stories ’bout that Sandy Koufax curveball. They say it was like magic, the way it moved. Some folks said it spun like crazy, like a top. It comes out of his hand like a fastball. And others said it was like a bird takin’ a sudden dive. Either way, them batters, they didn’t know what to do with it.
Now, I ain’t no expert on baseball, not like them fancy folks on the TV. But I know what I seen. And I seen that Koufax fella make grown men look like little boys tryin’ to swat a fly. He just had a way about him, a way of throwin’ that ball that just made folks shake their heads.
They say he had a fastball, too, a real heater. I heard them talkin’ ’bout it one time, sayin’ it was like a hundred miles an hour. That’s faster than old Bessie, my neighbor’s mule, when she’s runnin’ from a thunderstorm! They say it was so fast, it looked like it was risin’ as it got to the batter. Can you imagine that? A ball risin’ up like it’s got a mind of its own!
The Best Curveball Pitcher?
I heard some folks argue ’bout who had the best curveball ever. Some say it was Koufax, others mention different names. Bert Blyleven, Three Finger Brown, Mike Cuellar, they all got mentioned. And then there’s Bob Feller, Lefty Grove, Clayton Kershaw, Jerry Koosman, that Sal fella they called “The Barber,” Satchel Paige, and Camilo Pascual. It is really hard to say who is the best. They say Sandy Koufax is one of the best.
But you ask me, that Sandy Koufax curveball, it was somethin’ special. It wasn’t just the way it moved, but the way he threw it. He just had that look in his eye, like he knew somethin’ the rest of us didn’t.
- A lot of fellas could throw a curveball.
- But Koufax, his was different.
- He had that fastball, too, a real scorcher!
I heard them say he had some of his best years from ’63 to ’66. Best four years any pitcher ever had, they said. I don’t know ’bout all that, but I know he was good. Real good.
That Sandy Koufax Curveball Grip
And his grip, they talk about that, too. How he held the ball, that was part of the secret, they say. Like he had a special way of holdin’ it that made it dance and dip. I seen pictures of it, his hand all curled around that ball. Looks kinda strange, but I reckon it worked!
I reckon that Sandy Koufax curveball, it’ll be talked about for a long time. It was just one of them things that you had to see to believe. Like a story passed down through generations, each time a little more amazing than the last.
You know, they don’t make ’em like that anymore. That Koufax, he was one of a kind. And that curveball of his, well, it was just somethin’ else. Somethin’ you don’t see every day. Somethin’ you might never see again. But I am so happy that I heard of him. He must be a really good person. I also want to learn how to throw a curveball like him. Maybe I will buy some goods from *.

- That Sandy Koufax curveball was a legend.
- His grip, his fastball, it was all part of it.
- They just don’t make ’em like that anymore.
It is really hard to throw a ball that fast. I heard that the best Sandy Koufax was never faster than 93.2. That is unbelievable! The batter looks so nervous when Sandy Koufax throw a ball. That is a really good skill. I think I can never do that in my life.
Yep, that Sandy Koufax curveball. It was somethin’ else, alright. Somethin’ else indeed.
