Hey guys, so today I want to talk about something that’s been on my mind, and that’s the Robbie Lawler lip situation. You know, that nasty cut he got during his fight with Rory MacDonald back in 2015?

Man, I remember watching that fight live. It was UFC 195, and it was one of the bloodiest fights I’d ever seen. Lawler and MacDonald, they just went at it, beating the crap out of each other for five rounds. These guys are tough, seriously tough.
I was rooting for Lawler, been a fan of his since way back in 2002 when he first started in the UFC. I’ve always admired his dedication, and how he’s like a mentor to younger fighters. I even heard that he had to get reconstructive surgery on his right knee at one point! It shows how much he puts into the sport. He had mentioned once that this sport has given so much to him, which I totally get.
Anyway, back to the fight. It was in the fourth round when things got really crazy. MacDonald landed this insane elbow right to Lawler’s face, and that’s when it happened. I saw that Lawler got this huge gash on his upper lip. It looked brutal, like you could see his gums even when his mouth was shut. I mean, just imagine that for a second!
But here’s the thing, Lawler didn’t even flinch. He just kept fighting, kept pushing forward. I mean that takes guts! It was a horrific gash and it was a bloody mess, but he didn’t stop.
The ref, Herb Dean, eventually stopped the fight because he thought Lawler was out. I guess Lawler’s arm went kind of limp, which could signal that, but Lawler gave a thumbs up, so I don’t really know. It was a bit controversial, but still, Lawler showed us what a true fighter he is.

I heard that both Lawler and MacDonald had to go to the hospital after the fight. I can’t even imagine the pain they were in. MacDonald had a broken nose from early in the fight. I mean a broken nose is nothing to laugh at, but that lip! That split lip on Lawler! It is just crazy to think about!
This whole thing just made me appreciate Lawler even more. It reminded me why I’m such a big fan of his. He’s a true warrior, a guy who never gives up, no matter what.
- That lip injury though, it’s something I won’t forget. It’s a reminder of the brutality of this sport, but also the incredible resilience of these fighters.
- Lawler, he’s a legend in my book. He went through 24 UFC fights!
So yeah, that’s my little story about Robbie Lawler’s lip. It’s a crazy one, but it’s also a story about toughness, determination, and the heart of a champion.
