Okay, so, let me tell you about this weekend – it was all about the Placerville Speedway. I’ve been itching to get back into the sprint car scene, and this was the perfect opportunity. Packed up the car early Saturday morning, you know, the usual drill – cooler, chairs, sunscreen, the whole nine yards. Hit the road and made my way to Placerville, ready for some dirt track action.

When I rolled into the speedway, the atmosphere was already buzzing. The roar of the engines, the smell of the fuel – it was awesome. I found a spot, got settled in, and then went to work, I started to look around who’s there. Then I saw Andy Forsberg, what a surprise! Bubba Decaires was also there, which is cool. They are having a six-point difference in the standings, so you know the race is gonna be intense! I guess I was right.
The races kicked off, and man, it was a wild ride from start to finish. I spent most of the time tracking the points, which is, in my opinion, a highlight of this weekend. Watching those drivers go at it, sliding around the corners, kicking up dirt – it’s just pure adrenaline. I was trying to capture some of the action with my camera, but honestly, it’s hard to keep up. Those cars are moving!
- First, I spent a good amount of time looking into the sprint car racing scene. It seems like Steve Kinser is the best guy doing this, I found out that he got 20 World of Outlaws championships, which is insane!
- I noticed there’s this thing called the “Championship Opener” for different types of cars, like Winged 360 Sprint Cars and others. Seems important.
- Found something about a “NorCal Posse Shootout.” Sounds intense, but I’m not sure what it’s all about.
- There’s a big deal about the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series. Someone named “Day” is leading the points, but it changes all the time.
- There are tons of tracks and series all over the place. I was browsing through hundreds of them. Each one has its own events and news.
- Saw something about the “Legends Night” at Placerville. It’s the last race of the season for some types of cars, so it must be a pretty big deal.
- Michael Faccinto was leading the points for the Thompson’s Winged 360 Sprint Car, at least he was before August 26th. But this Saturday, I guess things may change!
- I also heard that if some driver wins both the Placerville Speedway Sprint Car title and the SCCT championship, he gets a whopping $20!
I also took notes of the races I watched. I jotted down who was leading, who was gaining, and any crazy moves or near misses. It’s all a blur now, but I remember being on the edge of my seat for most of the night.
As the night went on, I mingled with some of the other fans. Everyone’s got their own story, their favorite drivers, their predictions for the season. I tell you, these folks are passionate about their sprint cars.
The Season Finale
And then, there was the championship finale. The tension in the air was thick. Everyone was wondering who would take home the title. I had my own predictions, but in sprint car racing, anything can happen. This race was insane because I heard that if a driver can win both the Placerville Speedway Sprint Car title and the SCCT championship, they will walk away with $20! No wonder the drivers were battling it out like crazy.

By the end of the night, after all the dust settled (literally), I was exhausted but completely satisfied. It was one of those experiences that just sticks with you. I packed up my gear, said goodbye to the track, and started the drive home, already thinking about the next race.
So yeah, that’s my Placerville Speedway story. It was a blast, and I can’t wait to do it again. If you’re ever in the area and you hear those engines roar, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won’t regret it.
