So, I’ve been messing around with NFL predictions lately, especially trying to nail those upsets, and it’s been a wild ride, let me tell you. Started off the season pretty clueless, just throwing darts blindfolded, you know?
First thing I did was dive into a bunch of websites that claimed they had the secret sauce for this stuff. Found one, OddsTrader, that boasts about their fancy algorithms. Supposedly, these things crunch thousands of data points to spit out some accurate predictions. Sounds cool, right?
Then there’s Bleacher Report. They’ve got a whole squad of experts – Brad, Gary, Brent, Maurice, and a bunch of editors. I figured, hey, these guys probably know what they’re talking about. They were busy trying to figure out which playoff teams might rest their starters, which is a big deal for upset predictions.
- Spent hours reading their articles, trying to soak up their wisdom.
- Made notes on which teams they thought were vulnerable.
- Started forming my own opinions based on their insights.
I also stumbled upon something called SportsLine’s AI PickBot. Apparently, this thing has nailed over 2,000 prop picks since last season. That’s a lot of correct guesses! Got me thinking, maybe machines are better at this than humans.
Anyway, I decided to focus on Week 16 first. There were some tools that help to find the best odds on any market. It can be so helpful.
I remember seeing something about the Sports Illustrated team picking the Texans to upset the Jets. That got my attention because the Jets were the favorites.

Then, I checked out what Matt McEwan and his “SBD formula” were saying. They had their own set of picks for Week 15, and I wanted to see if they were on to something.
Putting It All Together
After all this digging, I started putting together my own strategy. It wasn’t just about picking the underdogs blindly. I tried to find those games where a “good” team might be slacking or a “bad” team had a real shot.
- Looked at matchups, injuries, recent performance.
- Considered the “expert” opinions but also trusted my gut.
- Made my picks and waited for the games to play out.
It’s been a rollercoaster, honestly. Some weeks, I felt like a genius. Other weeks, not so much. But hey, that’s the fun of it, right? Predicting upsets is tough, but when you get one right, it feels amazing!
Still learning, still experimenting, but it’s been a blast so far. Maybe I’ll get good enough to rival that AI PickBot someday. Who knows?
