I’ve been tracking this dude, Mark Fulcher, for a while now. He’s a caddie, you know, carries the golf bags for the pros. I got really into it, not gonna lie. Started with just watching golf tournaments, then I figured, hey, I gotta know more about these guys who are always there, but never really in the spotlight.
So, I dug around. Turns out, this Fulcher guy is a big deal. He’s been with Justin Rose, this British golfer, on and off for like, over a decade. They started together back in 2008, I think it was. Imagine that, ten years carrying someone else’s bag and helping them win tournaments! That’s some serious commitment.
I looked up a bunch of tournaments they did together. Found out Fulcher was there when Rose won his first big one, the US Open in 2013. That’s huge! I watched some old footage of that tournament, just to see them in action. Pretty cool to see how they worked together.
Then, I learned that they split up in 2019. Fulcher had some health issues. But get this, they got back together in 2023, just in time for this big tournament called the Ryder Cup. It’s like a movie, right? The old team back together for one last ride!

I saw some interviews with Rose, talking about how important Fulcher is to his game. He calls him “Fooch,” which is kinda funny. Rose really trusts him, you can tell. He said it’s all about having someone who knows what they’re doing and can give good advice. Makes sense, right? You need someone you can rely on when the pressure is on. Especially in golf where it comes down to one swing sometimes.
I even tried to figure out how much these caddies make. It’s not easy to find that information, but I saw somewhere that they get a cut of the winnings, like 5-10%. Not bad, if you ask me. Especially when the prize money is in the millions! One place said Tiger Woods’ caddie made a couple million a year! Wild.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my little obsession with you guys. It’s been fun learning about this whole caddie world. These guys are like the unsung heroes of golf, and Mark Fulcher seems like one of the best. Now I follow him on all the tournaments – it’s become a thing now. What can I say? I guess I like to follow other people’s stories, especially those who don’t get enough credit. That’s what we do as bloggers, right? So here I am, putting it out there for the world.
It was a ton of work, but I learned a lot. The main thing though, gotta give props to Mark Fulcher. He’s a legend in his own right. And now, I’m a fan. A big one.
