Okay, so I’ve been following the NBA pretty closely this season, especially the Western Conference. The Timberwolves and the Thunder, man, they’ve been neck and neck. It got so tight at the end, I really needed to figure out that tiebreaker situation for myself. I don’t fully trust just reading what some site’s result, I have to do it!

First thing I did was, you know, just look at the final standings. Both teams finished with the same record, 57-25. That’s when I know it is not going to be easy. Okay, tiebreaker time!
Figuring Out the Tiebreaker
So, I grabbed my notebook and a pen – yeah, I’m old school sometimes. I needed to lay this all out.
- Head-to-Head Record: This is the first thing I checked. I went digging through the season’s game results. I found all four games they played against each other. I scribbled down each score, circling the winner. Turns out, the Timberwolves won the season series 3-1. Bam! Tiebreaker goes to Minnesota.
I felt pretty good at that point. I had found my answer, through my method! But, just to be sure, I did a little extra digging to see what would have happened if they had split the season series.
I am very glad that I found the result, so I will not continue on the next step, I am not sharing the next steps because they were unnecessary, I am a efficient guy!
It’s a great feeling to solve my confusion on my own. Now I can enjoy the playoffs knowing exactly how that seeding shook out. Go Wolves, I guess, even though I am not a fan!
