So, I heard about this NASCAR race down in Phoenix, right? It’s the 2024 Spring Weekend thing, and I thought, “Why not?” I’ve never been to one of these things, so I decided to check it out. It was way back in March, like 8th to 10th. The whole shebang kicked off with the ARCA Menards Series’ General Tire 150 on that Friday.
First off, I figured out I needed to snag some tickets. It was pretty easy, really, but nothing special. I started to look up online, and found they were still selling them.
Then came the fun part—picking where to sit. I read online that most folks like the Bryan or Allison grandstands ’cause you get a killer view of the whole race, especially the finish line. I ended up going for the Bryan grandstand. The seats were not that bad.
Now, I also read somewhere that the higher up you sit, the better you can follow the race. But some people dig being right down by the track, even if it’s loud and you can’t see as much. I learned that those close seats are jokingly called “chicken bone” seats, and that air quality can be rough. And a tip I took seriously: earplugs are a MUST. I grabbed a pair on the way in, and boy, was I glad I did.
My Experience
- Getting There: I drove down to Phoenix, which was a bit of a haul, but not too bad. Traffic was what you’d expect, a little crazy but manageable.
- The Atmosphere: Man, the energy was wild! People everywhere, all pumped for the race. Lots of tailgating, food, and just a general buzz of excitement.
- The Race: It was LOUD, like, feel-it-in-your-chest loud. But also super exciting. Cars zooming by, the crowd roaring, it was a total rush. I tried my best to keep up with who was where, but honestly, it was a bit of a blur. I just enjoyed the spectacle.
- The View: Sitting in the Bryan grandstand was awesome. I could see pretty much the whole track, and the finish line action was insane.
- The Food: Typical stadium fare, you know? Hot dogs, burgers, that sort of thing. Nothing to write home about, but it hit the spot.
All in all, it was a blast. Would I go again? Probably, yeah. It was a cool experience, something different. If you’re into racing or just want to see what the hype is about, I’d say give it a shot. Just remember those earplugs!
Oh, and I heard there are some changes coming to the schedule in 2024, something to keep an eye on. And the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship is coming at the end of this year, which could be a good one too!
