Alright folks, gather ’round, let me tell you about this little project I cooked up. So, the title’s “manute bol and muggsy,” right? Well, it all started with me just goofing around, thinking about those two iconic players.

First things first, I had to figure out what I wanted to do with this idea. Did I want to just find some cool pics? Nah, that’s boring. Did I want to write some fan fiction? Maybe, but I’m not that creative. Then it hit me: I’m gonna try and visualize them, side-by-side, you know? Show off the height difference in a striking way.
Okay, next step, figuring out how. I ain’t no professional artist, so sketching was out. But I remembered this cool 3D modeling software I’d messed with a while back. Decided to give it another whirl. Downloaded it, fired it up, and immediately felt overwhelmed. It’s been a minute, okay?
Spent a good chunk of time just re-learning the basics. How to create shapes, how to resize ’em, how to move ’em around. I’m talking hours, people! Youtube tutorials became my best friend.
Then came the real challenge: building Manute and Muggsy. Starting with basic cylinders and spheres. Manute, of course, was a looong cylinder. Muggsy, well, a shorter one, obviously! Trying to get the proportions right was a pain. Too skinny, too wide, kept tweaking and tweaking.
And detailing? Forget about it! I’m not trying to make realistic humans here. Just wanted to capture their essence, you know? So, basic shapes for the head, arms, legs. Tried to give Manute a slightly lankier look, and Muggsy a more… compact build. No faces, no clothes, just simple shapes.

Finally, after much struggling, I had my two figures. Now for the fun part: positioning them. I wanted to really emphasize the height difference. Stood Muggsy right next to Manute. Tilted their heads up and down a little to create some visual interest.
After that, I messed around with the lighting. Found a setting that made the contrast between the two figures pop. Added a simple background – just a plain white canvas, so nothing distracted from the main event.
Took a screenshot, and boom! There it was. My incredibly basic, but surprisingly effective, visualization of Manute Bol and Muggsy Bogues side-by-side.
Was it perfect? Heck no! But I learned a ton about 3D modeling, and I got to see my silly idea come to life. Plus, it really does hit you when you see them together like that, even in blocky 3D form. What a duo!
So, what’s the takeaway here? Don’t be afraid to just dive in and try something new, even if you’re a total noob. You might surprise yourself. And even if you fail spectacularly, you’ll still learn something along the way.

- Started with: A simple idea
- Then: Re-learned some old software
- After that: Struggled with basic 3D modeling
- Finally: Created a simple visualization
That’s my “manute bol and muggsy” story. Hope you enjoyed it!
