Okay, so, today I wanna talk about something that I’ve been getting into lately – golf. Yeah, I know, not exactly what you’d expect from me, but hey, we all need to try new things, right? And let me tell you, this “Marty Fleckman Golf” thing? It’s been a real eye-opener.

So, I started like anyone else – clueless. I mean, I could barely hit the ball, let alone get it anywhere near the hole. I went to the driving range a few times and I felt like a total fool. But I kept seeing these videos online about this Marty Fleckman guy. He’s like this golf guru or something, I don’t know. What caught my eye was that he wasn’t just about the perfect swing, which, let’s be honest, is intimidating as hell. He was talking about strategy, about using your head, not just your muscles.
I started watching his stuff, and I gotta say, some of it seemed pretty obvious once he pointed it out. Like, he was talking about using the teeing ground to your advantage. I always just plopped the ball down in the middle, never really thinking about it. But he was saying, “Hey, look where the trouble is on the hole, then tee up on the opposite side to give yourself a better angle.” Sounds simple, right? But it made a huge difference!
Using the teeing ground
I started paying attention to where I was teeing up.
- Find the trouble: Is there a bunker on the left? Trees on the right?
- Tee up on the opposite side: Trouble on the left? Tee up on the right edge.
- Create a better angle: This opens up the fairway and gives you a clearer shot.
Another thing he talked about was course management. It’s not about trying to crush every drive. It’s about thinking a few shots ahead, planning where you want the ball to be. I started doing that, and I swear, even when I didn’t hit the ball perfectly, I was still ending up in better positions than before. I practiced this many times and my strategy has become clearer.
I also learned some rules, I mean some easy rules that I ignored before, which helped me to save strokes without really changing my swing. Like, knowing where to drop if your ball goes out of bounds, or how to take relief from an unplayable lie. Honestly, I just kinda winged it before, but now I feel a bit more confident about what I’m doing.

Look, I’m not saying I’m suddenly a pro or anything. I still shank it sometimes, I still get frustrated. But, following some of this Marty Fleckman’s simple tips, I’m actually starting to see some improvement, and I am starting to enjoy the game a bit more. It’s not just about the score, it’s about the challenge, the strategy, and yeah, even the frustration. It’s a whole process, you know? And I’m kinda digging it.
So, yeah, that’s my Marty Fleckman Golf journey so far. It’s been a mix of face-palms and “aha!” moments, but mostly, it’s been fun. If you’re thinking about getting into golf, or if you’re already playing and feeling stuck, maybe check out some of his stuff. It might just change the way you look at the game.
