Okay, so I’ve been messing around with horses for a while now, and I always get tripped up on “stallion” versus “mare.” I mean, I know the difference, but it’s one of those things that just doesn’t stick in my brain easily. So, I decided to finally get it straight, once and for all.

First, I grabbed my notebook – the one I use for all my random horse stuff. Gotta have a dedicated space for this, right? Then, I jumped onto my computer. I figured some visuals would help cement the definitions in my head.
My Little Research Session
- Started Simple: I typed “stallion vs mare” into the search bar. You know, the basic stuff.
- Images Galore: I clicked on the image results. Lots of pictures of, well, horses. Some were clearly labeled, which was helpful.
- Read a Bit: I skimmed through a couple of short articles. Nothing fancy, just enough to get the core definitions down.
It all came down to this, super simple:
- Stallion: Boy horse. Un-snipped boy horse, I have remember that part specifically .
- Mare: Girl * girl horse over the age three or four.
See? Easy peasy, in theory. But I needed to make it really stick. So, I drew some silly pictures in my notebook. A super buff horse with a crown for the stallion, and a horse with long eyelashes and a flower for the mare. Yeah, I’m no artist, but it helps!
After making the drawing.I closed my notebook and put it on the shelf. I feeling great, like I’d actually accomplished something. I went outside and could clearly distinguish between the stallion and the * finally clicked!Next time I won’t mix them up – I hope!
