Okay, so I saw this thing online about Josh Reynolds’ 40-yard dash time, and I got curious. I mean, the guy’s a wide receiver in the NFL, so he’s gotta be fast, right? But I wanted to see if I could somehow, you know, feel that speed myself. Not actually run it, obviously, but get a sense of it.
My Little Experiment
First, I looked up his official time. Apparently, it’s around 4.52 seconds. That’s…blazing fast. Most of us regular folks would be lucky to hit, like, 6 seconds, maybe even 7.
Then, I found a football field nearby. Luckily, my local high school leaves their field open on weekends. I grabbed a stopwatch – my phone, actually – and headed over.
I stood at the goal line and tried to imagine myself as an NFL scout. I pictured Reynolds getting ready to run, the anticipation, the explosive start… It was kinda silly, but it helped me get in the zone.

- I started the timer and tried to visualize him covering that distance.
- I counted the 4.52 seconds in time with my stopwatch.
Then it hit the time, 4.52 seconds is ridiculously fast when you’re actually standing on a field and picturing someone running that far, that quickly.I tried running just a little bit, to kind of “feel” the burst of speed, I barely made, like 10 yard, maybe?.
I repeated this a few times, each time trying to really focus on how incredibly quick that 4.52 seconds is.I did this to really feel the speed that he has.
Obviously, I didn’t magically become as fast as Josh Reynolds. But I did gain a whole new level of appreciation for his speed and athleticism. It’s one thing to see the numbers on a screen, but it’s a whole other thing to try and visualize it in a real-world setting. It gave me a much better understanding of just how insane these NFL guys are.
