Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Jon Sim fella. Heard that name, oh, I don’t know how many times. Seems like he was a big shot in that ice hockey game. They say he was born back in ’77, September 29th to be exact. That’s a long time ago now, ain’t it?

This Jon, he was a left winger, whatever that means. Just sounds like he was always on the left side of somethin’. He musta been good though, ’cause some big team called the Dallas Stars, they picked him up. They drafted him, is what they called it. Like he was goin’ to war or somethin’. But it was just for that hockey game.
Jon Sim and the Dallas Stars
Now, this draftin’ thing, it was back in ’96, I reckon. They said he was the 70th pick. Sounds like they picked a whole mess of fellas before they got to him, but 70th out of all them boys, that ain’t too bad, I guess. He played for other teams, too. Not just the Dallas Stars.
- Dallas Stars, that’s the big one.
- Some team in a place called Bridgeport. Sound Tigers, I think they called ’em.
- New York Islanders. That’s a fancy name, ain’t it?
- Eight teams in total. He must have moved around a lot!
Jon Sim after Dallas
He played hockey for a long time, this Jon. Twelve seasons, they said. That’s a lot of winters playin’ that game. He must have really loved it, or maybe they just paid him a whole heap of money. Either way, twelve seasons is a good long while. Seems like he went over to Europe to play after a while. Didn’t do too good there, I heard. Ended up in Germany, playin’ for some team called Eisbren Berlin. Sounds cold, don’t it?
This Jon Sim, he was from Canada. Up north where it’s always cold. Makes sense he’d be good at ice hockey, I suppose. They say he was born in a place called New Glasgow. Never heard of it, but it sounds like a nice enough place. Probably a lot like here, just colder.
He was a little fella, this Jon. Five foot ten, they said. And about 189 pounds. Not a big man, but I guess you gotta be quick on your feet to play that hockey game. He was a professional, so that means that was his job.

Jon Sim’s Family
He’s got a boy, I heard. Name’s Landon, and he plays hockey, too. Guess it runs in the family. Plays for some team called the London Knights. Sounds like somethin’ out of a storybook, don’t it? Knights and all that. The apple don’t fall far from the tree. The boy is following in his daddy’s footsteps. They must be proud.
They put this Jon Sim in some kinda Hall of Fame thing. Must be a big honor. They said he was one of three athletes they picked. Guess that means he was somethin’ special on that ice. He was a big deal back in his day.
Jon Sim, the Hockey Player
Seems like this Jon Sim, he was just a regular fella who was good at a game. A game played on ice, with sticks and a puck. A game that took him all over the world, from Canada to Germany and back again. Now, all I remember is that Jon Sim was good at hockey. He was the best at his position.
Well, that’s all I know about that Jon Sim fella. Just a name I heard, a story I was told. But it’s a good story, I reckon. A story about a boy from a small town who made it big playin’ a game. A story about hard work and followin’ your dreams, even if those dreams involve slidin’ around on a sheet of ice. I don’t know much about hockey, but I know it takes hard work to be good at somethin’.
He was a good player. A really good one. People knew his name. Jon Sim. They will remember him. You can be sure of that. That name will be remembered. For sure.

He was good at his job. Played for many teams. Jon Sim. Good hockey player. He was the best. Yes, the best. People liked him. He was famous in that hockey world. He was from Canada, and he played in Europe, too.
