Is Your Dog Like the angriest dog in the world? Find Out!

Okay, so today I tried to recreate that “The Angriest Dog in the World” comic strip. You know, the one by David Lynch? Super weird, super simple, super…angry.

First, I dug up some references online. Just googled “The Angriest Dog in the World” and scrolled through the images. I noticed they’re all pretty much the same: black and white, super basic dog, same four panels, some weird text.

Getting Started

I don’t have fancy art software, so I just opened up MS Paint. Yeah, I know, super old school. But hey, it works for simple stuff!

  • I picked the rectangle tool and drew four equal-sized boxes for the panels.
  • Then, I used the line tool to make them look like, you know, comic panels.

Drawing the Dog

The dog… oh boy. I tried to copy the style from the references. It’s basically just a few lines, right? But man, getting that “perfectly angry” look was tougher than I thought.

I kept erasing and redrawing the dog’s face. The eyes are just little dots, but the placement is EVERYTHING. Too close, he looks confused. Too far, he looks… sleepy? I finally settled on something that looked at least a little bit menacing.

Adding the Text

The text is part of the whole vibe, so I tried the classic, and the classic dialog in each panel:

  • “The dog who is so angry he cannot move. He cannot eat. He cannot sleep. He can just barely growl.”
  • “He is trembling and straining.”
  • “He barks and is choked to the point that he can no longer bark.”
  • “Bound so tightly, and to the darkness around him. And there will come a day.”

I chose a simple, blocky font in Paint. Something that looked kinda like it could have been typed on an old typewriter. I typed out the iconic “The dog who is so angry…” line and positioned it above the panels.

Finally, I saved my masterpiece. It’s not perfect, and it is not David Lynch, but it’s definitely a version of “The Angriest Dog in the World”.

Maybe I should show my own drawing skills to get it better, but it was a good time for this old strip!
