Alright, let’s talk about this Sabo situation. Man, this has been bugging me for a while, ever since all that crazy stuff went down with the Lulusia Kingdom. I just had to sit down and really think it through, piece by piece, like I always do when these manga cliffhangers drive me nuts.

My Initial Reaction – Panic Mode!
So, the first thing I heard, or rather read, was that news about Lulusia getting completely wiped off the map. And Sabo was supposedly right there. My gut just dropped. I was like, “No way, Oda wouldn’t do that, not again, not after Ace!” It felt like a punch, honestly. You get attached to these characters, you know?
Digging Through the Chapters Again
I couldn’t just leave it at that. So, what did I do? I went back. Pulled out the chapters, digital copies, whatever I could find. I re-read everything around the Lulusia incident. I was looking for clues, any little hint.
Here’s what stood out to me during my re-read:
- The communication: Sabo was on a call with Dragon and Ivankov right when things went sideways. The call got cut off, sure, but he was actively reporting.
- The timing: The way it was presented, it was chaotic. But often, in One Piece, chaos means there’s room for an escape, however improbable.
- The “off-screen” rule: This is a big one for me. How many times have we thought a character was a goner in One Piece, only for them to pop back up? Pell is the classic example, right? Landed with a giant bomb, and the dude was fine. It’s almost a running gag.
Connecting the Dots (Or Trying To)
Then I started thinking about Sabo’s role. He’s not just some side character. He’s the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army. He inherited Ace’s will, his Devil Fruit. Killing him off, especially off-screen like that, would feel… cheap? And Oda, for all his crazy plot twists, usually gives big moments the weight they deserve.
I remember thinking, “Okay, if he was gone, the story would feel it immediately.” Luffy would find out, and it would be a massive deal. But the focus shifted, as it often does. It left that lingering uncertainty, which, let’s be honest, is Oda’s specialty.

And then there was that tiny little breadcrumb – someone from Lulusia was apparently rescued by the Revolutionaries on a ship. They didn’t say who, but come on. Who else would it be that’s super important and was definitely there?
So, What’s My Takeaway? Is Sabo Still Kicking?
After going through all this, mulling it over, talking to myself like a crazy person (we all do it with theories, admit it!), I’ve landed on this: I’m pretty sure Sabo is alive.
It just doesn’t add up for him to be gone like that. The narrative doesn’t support it, Oda’s patterns don’t support it, and frankly, my heart doesn’t support it!
- The “someone survived Lulusia” hint is too convenient to ignore.
- His death would serve no major purpose right now, other than pure shock value, and we’ve had that.
- He’s got too much unfinished business.
Of course, this is One Piece. Anything can happen. Oda could be playing the ultimate long game to crush our spirits. But based on my own little “investigation” and going with my gut, I’m putting my chips on Sabo making a dramatic comeback when we least expect it. For now, I’m breathing a little easier. We’ll just have to wait and see how it actually unfolds. The waiting is the hardest part, isn’t it?
