Okay, so “leo horse”…what the heck was I thinking? I had this crazy idea to combine a lion (leo, get it?) and a horse. Don’t ask me why, it just popped into my head. I figured, why not try to make it in some kind of, I don’t know, digital art thing?
First, I grabbed my tablet and opened up that drawing app I barely know how to use. I usually just doodle stick figures, so this was already way out of my league.
The Struggle Begins
- Started with a basic horse shape. I mean, it looked more like a potato with legs, but hey, it was a start.
- Then I tried to add a lion’s head. This…this was a disaster. It looked like a fluffy, angry grapefruit stuck on a potato body.
- I spent like an hour just trying to get the mane right. Seriously, drawing fur is HARD.
I googled “how to draw a lion” and “horse anatomy” more times than I’d like to admit. Found some tutorials, some were helpful, some were just confusing.
After a lot of erasing, redrawing, and sighing dramatically, I managed to get something that vaguely resembled a lion-horse hybrid. It still looked a bit wonky, but at least it wasn’t a complete abomination.
Coloring Catastrophe
Next up: color. I thought, “Okay, lion colors, horse colors, how hard can it be?” Turns out, very hard. My “leo horse” ended up looking like it had been tie-dyed by a toddler.
I played around with different shades of brown, yellow, and orange. I even tried to add some shading, which was a total mess. It looked like my creature had been rolling around in dirt.
The Final(ish) Product
Eventually, I get a result.
I added some final touches – a majestic (sort of) tail, some fierce (questionable) eyes, and a background that I just threw together because I was tired.
So, there you have it. My “leo horse” adventure. It’s not perfect, it’s probably not even good, but I made it. And I learned that drawing is way harder than it looks. Maybe I’ll stick to stick figures next time.
