Okay, so the other day I had this crazy idea to make a video about lions. Not just any lions, though – I wanted to do something about a lion dad and his cubs. I’ve always been amazed by those big cats, you know? So I thought, why not try to put together something that shows a bit of that family dynamic in the wild?

I started by digging around for some inspiration. Found a bunch of stuff online, like this board on Pinterest by someone named Candy Cumming, full of photos of lion dads with their cubs. Really heartwarming stuff. That got me going, thinking about what I wanted to capture. Then I remembered seeing a video somewhere about these cute little cubs rushing to catch up to their dad. That was it! That was the kind of moment I was going for.
Next, I started gathering footage. Now, I’m not exactly a wildlife photographer with access to the African savanna, so I had to get creative. I looked through tons of stock photos and videos, trying to find clips that could work together. I even found this cool story about a photographer, Eszterhas, who spent three months with a lion pride just to get a shot of a male lion meeting his son for the first time. Man, that’s dedication! It got me thinking about how to tell a story with the footage I could find.
After a lot of searching, I found some decent clips, including a few of these adorable cubs from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. They were meeting their dad for the first time too, which was perfect for what I had in mind. I started piecing them together, trying to create a little narrative.
- First, I selected the clips I wanted to use.
- Second, I arranged them in an order that I thought made sense.
- Then, I spent hours watching and rewatching, making sure the transitions were somewhat smooth.
- Finally, I added some simple text to give it a bit more context.
It wasn’t easy, I gotta say. Trying to make a cohesive video out of random clips is a bit like putting together a puzzle without all the pieces. But you know what? I think I managed to pull something off. It’s not perfect, but it captures a little bit of that father-son bond between these majestic animals.
So there you have it. That’s the story behind my little lion video project. Hope you guys get a chance to see it and maybe feel a little bit of that wild, untamed love that I tried to capture.
