How to Start Mercedes Car: Follow These Instructions.

Okay, so you wanna know how to start a Mercedes? I recently had to figure this out myself, so let me walk you through what I did. It’s probably easier than you think, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

How to Start Mercedes Car: Follow These Instructions.

Getting Ready

First things first, make sure you have the key! Seems obvious, but you know, gotta state the obvious sometimes. Most newer Mercedes have a key fob thingy, not a traditional key you stick in a slot.

Next, get your butt in the driver’s seat and shut the door. Make sure you’re comfortable, adjust the seat and mirrors if you need to. Gotta be set up right, you know?

Starting the Engine

  • Foot on the Brake: This is super important. Keep your foot firmly on the brake pedal. The car won’t start unless you do this. I learned this the hard way, mashing the start button and nothing happened.
  • Find the Start/Stop Button: Look around on the dashboard, usually to the right of the steering wheel. It’s a big button, often says “Engine Start/Stop” or something like that. Can’t miss it.
  • Press the Button: With your foot STILL on the brake, press and hold that Start/Stop button. Don’t just tap it. Hold it for a second or two.

You should hear the engine roar to life! The dashboard lights will all come on, and you’re good to go. If it doesn’t start, double-check that your foot is REALLY on the brake. Sometimes I think I’m pressing it hard enough, but I’m not.

If It’s a Keyless Start (Push Button)

Some newer models are keyless. Make sure your foot on the brake, then, you can push the “start engine” button to start your Mercedes.

If It’s an Older Model with a Key

  • Insert the Key: If you’ve got an older model with a regular key, stick that bad boy into the ignition slot. It’s usually on the steering column.
  • Turn the Key: Just like any other car, turn the key to the “Start” position. You might have to wiggle it a bit if it’s an older car. Hold it there until the engine starts.
  • Release the Key: Once the engine is running, let go of the key. It should spring back to the “On” position.

Troubleshooting (aka When Things Go Wrong)

If the car STILL won’t start, here are a couple of things to check:

  • Dead Key Fob Battery: If you have the key fob, the battery might be dead. Try holding the fob really close to the Start/Stop button when you press it. Sometimes that works. Otherwise, you might need a new battery for the fob.
  • Dead Car Battery: If the engine just clicks or makes a sad whirring sound, your car battery might be dead. You’ll need a jump start or a new battery.
  • Something Else: If you’ve tried everything and it’s still not starting, there might be a bigger problem. Might be time to call a mechanic or roadside assistance. Don’t wanna mess around with car stuff if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Anyway, that’s how I figured out how to start a Mercedes. Hopefully, this helps you out too! It’s pretty straightforward once you know the steps. Good luck, and happy driving!
