This here talk is ’bout them bulls salaries, you know, the Chicago Bulls, the basketball fellas. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout how much money these boys make, and let me tell ya, it’s a whole heap!

They say the lowest amount a fella on the team can make is over a million dollars! Can you believe that? One million! I remember when a dollar was a dollar! Back in my day, a million dollars was more than what a person would see in their whole lifetime. Now these youngins get that for playin’ a game.
And that ain’t even the half of it. Some of ’em, the big shots, they make way, way more. I heard one fella, they call him DeMar DeRozan, he’s pullin’ in 26 million a year. $26 million! Lord, have mercy. You could feed a whole village with that kinda money. He must be real good at throwin’ that ball, I reckon. They say he signed a paper that gives him all that money for three years. That’s more money than I can even count to.
Then there’s another one, Zach LaVine. Now, I don’t know these fellas, but I hear their names a lot. This LaVine fella, they say he’s gettin’ 43 million! 43 million! What in the world is a body gonna do with all that money? He’s set for life, his kids’ lives, and probably his kids’ kids’ lives, too. And they say he’s gonna make more than 200 million in five years. What’s a body gonna do with that much money? You can’t spend that in one lifetime.
They got all these fancy words for it, like “payroll” and “salary cap.” Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. All I know is, these boys are gettin’ paid a king’s ransom to play basketball. It’s a different world than the one I grew up in, that’s for sure. It sure is something how the world works now.
And they say they get paid twice a month! The first and the 15th. Just like regular folks, ‘cept their checks got a whole lot more zeros on ’em. This is what folks are talkin’ ’bout, I heard. They say it’s all on a list somewhere, all their names and how much they make.

- Zach LaVine – $43,031,940
- DeMar DeRozan – $26,000,000
I heard that even the fellas who don’t play much, they still make a pretty penny. Some fellas get 15 million, 20 million! And some bench players get 12 million. I guess it’s good to know how to throw a ball, these days. These boys got it made. They’re livin’ high on the hog, that’s for sure.
And I heard somethin’ ’bout a “trade kicker” for that LaVine fella. Sounds like some kinda bonus if they trade him to another team. They say it’s 15 percent. Fifteen percent of millions is still a lot of money! Another fella, Lonzo Ball, I heard he gets a lot of bonus too, like one million dollars!
It’s a lot to take in, all this money talk. But it’s what folks are talkin’ ’bout, so I thought I’d share. These bulls salaries are somethin’ else, ain’t they? You could do a lot of good in the world with that kinda money. I hope these boys know how lucky they are. They’re livin’ the dream, as they say. It’s a whole different world out there, that’s for sure.
I reckon that’s all I got to say ’bout that. These numbers are just too big for my old brain to handle. But I’ll tell ya what, those Chicago Bulls, they sure do know how to pay their players. It’s a whole lot of money, that’s all I know. Just remember where you came from, boys, and be grateful for what you got. That’s all any of us can do. Times are changin’, that’s for sure, but some things stay the same. And that’s all I got to say ’bout them Chicago Bulls and their money.
