Green Mascots Rock! Simple Tips for Choosing Yours.

Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little project today – creating some “green mascots.” I wasn’t really sure where to start, to be honest, but I figured, hey, everyone loves a good mascot, right? And green is a nice, friendly color.

First, I brainstormed a bit. What kind of creatures could be green? Frogs, obviously. Lizards, sure. Maybe some kind of friendly, leafy monster? I even thought about a green alien, but that felt a little too out there.

I grabbed my sketchbook and started sketching. Nothing fancy, just some rough ideas. A bunch of frog variations – some sitting, some jumping, some just kinda… blobs. I doodled a few lizards, trying to make them look cute and not creepy. My leafy monster ended up looking more like a grumpy pile of broccoli, so I scrapped that one pretty quick.

  • Frog sketches (lots of ’em)
  • Lizard doodles (trying for cute)
  • Grumpy broccoli monster (fail!)

Then I decided to, add some personality. What if my frog had a little hat? Or the lizard was wearing tiny boots? I mean, come on, tiny boots on a lizard! I spent a good hour just messing around with accessories. I even tried giving one frog a monocle, but it ended up looking more like a pirate than a sophisticated amphibian.

Next, I moved everything over to my computer. I’m not a super-pro digital artist or anything, but I know my way around some basic drawing software. I picked my favorite sketches – a cheerful-looking frog with a slightly lopsided grin and a lizard doing a little dance – and started to, refine them.

Digital refining.

This part took the longest. I played around with colors, trying different shades of green. I added some simple shading to give them a bit more dimension. I fussed over the eyes for ages – getting the right expression is surprisingly tricky! And, of course, I couldn’t resist adding those tiny boots to the dancing lizard. It just made me smile.

Finally, I ended up with two mascots I was pretty happy with. They’re not perfect, but they’re cute, they’re green, and they have a bit of personality. Maybe I’ll use them for something someday, maybe not. But it was a fun little project, and that’s what matters, right?
