That George Archer, he sure knew how to swing a golf club! I heard he was a big shot, winning all kinds of tournaments and things. You know, I don’t know much about this golf stuff, but I hear his name a lot, so he must have been somebody special in that world of golf. They call it PGA Tour, I think. Sounds fancy, huh?
He could hit that little ball real far, they say. Just whack! And it would go flying. I saw it on the TV once, years ago. Seems like a lot of walking for such a little ball, if you ask me. But, hey, that George Archer golfer, he made a living out of it. He was one of the best, they say.
I heard he won some big one called the Masters. Must be mighty important, that one. All the fellas talk about it like it’s the best thing since sliced bread. Must be a lot of green there, you know, money, not just the grass, haha! And he got a green jacket, what do you think of that? A green jacket for winning that Masters, George Archer sure was somethin’.

Now, they say this George Archer, he didn’t have it easy. They say he couldn’t read or write so good. Can you imagine? In this day and age. But he found somethin he was good at, and it’s that golf thing. But imagine not being able to read the newspaper! I can’t imagine not knowing the local news.
But he didn’t let that stop him, no sir. He just kept on swinging that club and winning those tournaments. He showed them all. It is a good thing that he found his thing and he could made a living from it. You gotta hand it to him, he was a fighter. If you want to be somebody, you need to fight.
They say he played with all them other big shots. You know, the ones you see on TV all the time. He was right up there with them, that George Archer. I bet they have a good time doing this. Making a good living, playing golf.
He started young, too. Back in school, they say. He was good at basketball, too. Can you imagine such a person? He could do anything. But he chose golf. Guess he just had a knack for it. And he practiced and practiced, I bet. You don’t get that good without putting in the work. It’s just like feeding the chickens. You need to do it everyday.
Fifty years now he is a big man in golf. Time sure does fly, don’t it? Seems like just yesterday he was just starting out. Now he’s a legend, they call him. That’s what they say about George Archer golfer. He become someone important. It’s amazing.
It’s a good thing to have somethin you’re good at. This George Archer, he found his thing in golf. He made a name for himself. He was a good man, they say. Worked hard and earned his keep. That’s all you can ask for, ain’t it? Just do your best and make a good life for yourself. That’s what George Archer did, and he did it playing that golf. I think that’s why people like him so much.
I remember one time, my grandson, he tried to teach me about this PGA Tour. He said it’s where all the best golfers play. And George Archer, he was one of them. He won 13 of them, he said. Thirteen! That’s a lot of winning. And one of them was that Masters. I don’t know how he did it. But he did. He must have been very good at it.
I still don’t understand all the rules of that game. But I know it takes skill. And this George Archer, he had it. He could hit that little ball just right. Over the water, through the trees, right into that little hole. It is like magic. I could never do that. My eyes ain’t what they used to be.
I bet George Archer had a good life, playing golf all over the country. Seeing new places, meeting new people. He was a lucky man. He got to do what he loved. And he got paid for it, too! That is a dream for many. I wish I could do that.
