Okay, so today I messed around with creating a digital portrait, and I decided to try drawing Frank Montano. Here’s how it went down.

Getting Started
First, I dug up some good reference photos. You gotta have good references, right? I found a bunch of pictures of Frank online, trying to get different angles and lighting situations. I picked one that I thought had a good, strong expression.
The Sketching Phase
Next, I fired up my drawing app and started sketching. I usually begin with really rough shapes, just trying to get the basic proportions right. It looked like a total mess at first, honestly. Just a bunch of circles and lines. But slowly, I started to refine the shapes, adding in details like the eyes, nose, and mouth. This part took a while, lots of erasing and redrawing.
Adding Details
I used some blending tool with smooth transition between shades. It’s a portrait,I add some shadow on the face, I refined them until it looks real!
The Final Touches
Finally, I went back and added some final touches. I cleaned up any messy lines, added some highlights, and adjusted the contrast a bit. I probably spent a good hour just tweaking little things here and there.
And that’s it! It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was definitely a good learning experience.
