Okay, so, I was digging into this whole “famous Orioles pitchers” thing today, and let me tell you, it turned into a bit of a rabbit hole.
I started out just wanting to see who the big names were, you know, the ones everyone talks about. First thing I did was hit up the usual spots online – you know what I mean, just looking at what popped up when I searched for stuff about the Orioles’ best pitchers ever. And right away, it was obvious that Cal Ripken Jr. is like, the dude when it comes to the Orioles, but he’s not even a pitcher!
- So, I kept digging. Found some official-looking site that had all these stats on Orioles pitchers, like their wins and ERAs and stuff. That was kind of cool, but also a little overwhelming with all the numbers.
- Then I stumbled upon this other page that had a list of every pitcher who’s ever played for the Orioles. Every single one. I mean, this team has been around for like, 124 years or something (since 1901 it says!), so you can imagine how long that list was! They had their record listed as 9120-10084.
- I started skimming through, and it was kind of cool seeing all these names from way back when, but also a little sad because some of these guys are probably long gone.
Anyway, I realized I was getting a little sidetracked. I really just wanted to know who the famous guys were. The ones who were like, really good. Not just every single person who ever pitched for them.
The Famous Ones
So I went back and kind of refined my search. Started looking for things like “best Orioles pitchers of all time” and “Orioles pitching legends.” That’s when I started seeing some familiar names pop up.
I realized I’d kind of gone down this whole history lesson rabbit hole, but hey, I learned a thing or two. I guess that’s the fun of these little internet research adventures, right? You never know where you’ll end up!
It was a fun little dive into baseball history, even if I didn’t become an expert or anything. But yeah, the Orioles have had some seriously good pitchers over the years, that’s for sure!
