This here Max thing, folks ask if it got that DVR. I heard some folks talking ’bout it the other day. They was wonderin’ can you record shows on it, like we used to with them old VCR tapes, you know?
Well, I did some snoopin’ around, asked my grandkids, they’re real good with these newfangled things. Seems like this Max thing, it ain’t got that DVR like you’d think. No button to just record whatever’s on the TV. Nope.

But, now hold on, it ain’t all bad news. If you got that sports thing, they call it B-R Sports Add-On. B-R Sports Add-On, that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Anyway, if you got that, then you can record them live games. Football, basketball, all them games where they run around chasin’ a ball. But only on some of them new devices. Can’t do it on just any old TV.
Now, other than them sports games, this Max thing, it don’t let you record. But, and this is a big but, you can download stuff. Like, you pick out a movie or one of them shows, and you can save it right onto your…your phone or that tablet thing. Then you can watch it later, even if you ain’t got that internet connection.
- You gotta pay more for that though, I think.
- They got different deals, like them plans you get for your phone.
- Some let you download, some don’t.
- One is called “ad-free,” and the other one, that’s “ultimate ad-free.”
Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me, all these names. But the young folks, they understand it. They say ultimate ad-free is better. More money, but you get more stuff. It’s like buyin’ the big bucket of chicken instead of the small one. You pay more, but you get more chicken.
Record HBO Max on Phone
And get this, some folks, they found a way to record anythin’ off Max. Sneaky, ain’t it? They use somethin’ called a screen recorder. I don’t rightly understand how it works, but they say you can record whatever’s playin’ on your screen. Like makin’ a copy of it. My grandson, he showed me once. He used somethin’ called OBS Studio. He recorded a whole movie!
He says you can do it on your phone too. Them new phones, they got that screen recorder built right in. Just gotta press a button or somethin’. It is all too complicated for me. I just like to watch my shows, plain and simple. My shows is, you know, like the one where they cook, Food Network. They make all them fancy dishes. I can’t make none of that stuff, but it’s fun to watch. They use all kind of fresh vegetables, tomatoes, peppers and that green, leafy stuff, spinach or something.
And that other one, HBO originals, where they got them dragons. My neighbor, she loves that one. She’s always goin’ on about them dragons and them kings and queens. Says it’s better than them soap operas we used to watch. And she said Max also have DC universe. What is DC universe? I only know it is something my grandson like. He always draw picture of a man wearing a cape, flying in the sky.
Watch Max in Real Time
You can watch it in “real time” on Max. I think it means you watch the show at the same time as everyone else. Like it is happening live. And the Harry Potter, they said Max also have that. I remember my grandson read that book when he was still a boy. He always asked me to buy him a broom, said he wanted to fly like Harry Potter. Such a silly boy, but I love him.
So, there you have it. This Max thing, it’s a bit confusing, but you can watch a lot of stuff on it. Movies, shows, even them live sports if you got that special add-on thingy. And if you’re real clever, you can even record it all, somehow. Me? I’ll just stick to downloadin’ a movie every now and then. It is way cheaper that way. And you don’t need to be a whiz kid to figure it out. Just gotta find somethin’ good to watch, that’s the important part. Like watchin’ a good sunset, it just makes you feel good, you know? That’s what watchin’ a good show is like.
Hope I explain this Max thing clear. I am not good at this new thing, but I tried. This whole does Max have DVR question, it ain’t so simple, but it ain’t so hard either. Just gotta know where to look, I reckon. Just like findin’ the best peaches at the market, you gotta know where to look. Yep, just gotta know.
