David McDaniel: A guide to his life, work, and more.

Okay, so, today I was messing around and stumbled upon this guy, David McDaniel. Turns out, he was a pretty interesting dude who wrote some science fiction and spy novels back in the day. Born in 1939, died in 1977, so he wasn’t around for too long, but he still managed to leave his mark.

I started digging around to see what I could find about him. First thing I did was look up his books. He wrote a few books, like “The Vampire Affair” and “The Dagger Affair.” Seem like they were kind of popular, with average ratings around 3.7 or so. Not bad for some old-school fiction, right?

Then I went down a rabbit hole and found out he also wrote something called “The Man From UNCLE : The Final Affair.” Apparently, it was supposed to be the final novel in that series, but it never got published. It was written somewhere between 1965 and 1968, the date is not so clear.

And get this, he even wrote a book related to “The Prisoner,” called “Who Is No. 2?” It’s about some top-level agent who’s super skilled and ultra-secret, but he wants out of the game. Sounds like my kind of story!

So, I spent a good chunk of my day just reading about David McDaniel and his works. I didn’t find any scholarly articles or anything, except one, which is not from him but about aging science, just regular old websites and fan pages. It’s always fun to discover these authors from the past who had their own little niche. Here’s my summary about my findings:

  • Researched David McDaniel’s background.
  • Checked out his bibliography and found some cool titles.
  • Discovered his unpublished novel “The Man From UNCLE : The Final Affair.”
  • Learned about his connection to “The Prisoner” series.
  • Spent the day immersed in the world of David McDaniel.

Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to today. It is just some simple findings about this author. Just thought I’d share my little adventure with you all. Maybe you’ll find it interesting, too. Who knows, maybe I’ll even try to track down some of his books and give them a read!
