Okay, so I’ve been grinding away at “Dark and Darker” lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I got this quest to hit up the Barracks in the Howling Crypts, and it sounded simple enough. I had heard of the Howling Crypts, but I had never been there.
I started by hopping into matches that were set in the Ruins of Forgotten Castle. I figured that was the right place to start since the Howling Crypts is supposed to be the second floor of it. I spent a good chunk of time just running around, trying to find those red Static Down portals. Those things are the only way to get into the Howling Crypts from the Ruins.
Man, finding those portals was a real pain. The map kept changing every time I spawned, so I couldn’t just memorize a route. I would get all excited when I finally found the stairs, only to realize it wasn’t the same layout as before. I wasted so many runs just searching, but it is what it is.
Finally, after what felt like forever, I found a portal that actually took me to the Howling Crypts. The place was creepy, with all those eerie sounds and dim lighting. But I was on a mission, so I pushed forward, keeping an eye out for anything that looked like a Barracks.
While I was exploring, I also kept an eye out for any other quests I could knock out. I’d been mostly focused on hunting for gems in the Crypts, but hey, if I could snag some extra loot or weapons from other quests, why not? I figured multitasking couldn’t hurt. I bumped into a few merchants along the way, and they gave me some side quests, which was pretty cool. I thought, “Two birds, one stone, right?”
I spent hours in those crypts, battling monsters and dodging traps, the whole nine yards. It was tough, and I definitely had my fair share of close calls. But I kept at it, determined to find this darn Barracks location. It was a total grind, but I wasn’t about to give up.
In the end, I’ll admit, I still haven’t found the Barracks. Yeah, I know, after all that, it’s a bit of a letdown. But that’s just how it goes sometimes. This game really tests your patience with all its changing layouts and hidden spots. But I did manage to complete some of those merchant quests and scored some decent rewards, so it wasn’t a total loss.
I’m not giving up, though. I’m gonna keep diving back into those Ruins and Crypts until I finally track down that Barracks. It’s become a bit of a personal challenge now. Plus, I’ve gotten pretty good at navigating the Howling Crypts, so at least there’s that.
