Hey everyone, so today I’m gonna take you through what went down during a photoshoot I recently had with Daniel Ricciardo, you know, the Formula 1 driver. This was for the 2023 season, and it happened at F1’s Media Technology Centre. It was a pretty big deal, getting all the content they needed for the year.

Getting Started
First off, I got the call, and honestly, I was pretty stoked. I mean, it’s not every day you get to work with an F1 star like Ricciardo. I packed my gear and headed to the Media Technology Centre. The place was buzzing, everyone was running around, getting things ready. It felt like the pit lane before a race, but with cameras and lights instead of cars and tires.
Setting Up
Once I got there, I met with the team to go over the plan. We needed to capture a bunch of different shots – some action poses, some more relaxed, candid stuff, and of course, the usual portraits. We set up in a few different locations around the Centre. I remember one spot had this massive LED screen as a backdrop, which looked pretty slick. Another was more industrial, with exposed metal and concrete, giving it a raw, edgy vibe.
Shooting with Daniel
Now, working with Daniel was a blast. The guy’s got charisma for days, which made my job a whole lot easier. I started with some action shots, having him pose in his racing suit, helmet in hand, looking all intense and focused. We played around with different lighting setups to get that dramatic, high-contrast look that’s so popular in sports photography.
Then, we moved on to some more casual shots. Daniel changed into some regular clothes, and we just chatted while I snapped away. He talked about his season, his expectations, and what he does to unwind. It was cool to see this other, more laid-back side of him. I think those shots really captured his personality.
Capturing the Moments
Throughout the day, I was constantly adjusting my settings, switching lenses, and trying out different angles. It’s all about capturing those unique moments, you know? There was this one shot where Daniel was leaning against a stack of tires, looking off into the distance, lost in thought. I quickly zoomed in and got the shot just as a ray of light hit his face. It’s moments like those that make all the running around worth it.

The Interview
Besides the photos, there was also an interview. They sat Daniel down in front of a backdrop with the F1 logo, and he answered a bunch of questions about his career, his thoughts on the upcoming season, and some personal stuff too. I took the opportunity to get some candid shots during the interview, catching him mid-sentence or when he was laughing at something. Those shots add a lot of life to the whole package, I believe.
Wrapping Up
By the end of the day, we were all pretty beat, but it was a good kind of tired. We had captured a ton of great content. I remember looking through the photos on my camera and feeling pretty satisfied with what we had accomplished. We packed up our gear, said our goodbyes, and that was it.
Post-Production
Back at my studio, I spent the next few days editing the photos. I tweaked the colors, adjusted the contrast, and cropped some images to get them just right. It’s always a bit of a grind, but seeing the final product makes it all worthwhile. And let me tell you, the photos turned out amazing. Daniel looked great, and the whole vibe of the shoot really came through.
So, yeah, that’s the story of how I did a photoshoot with Daniel Ricciardo. It was an incredible experience, from the planning to the shooting to the editing. Working with such a high-profile athlete in such a dynamic environment was a real thrill. Plus, getting to see a different side of F1, behind the scenes, was pretty awesome.
Hope you enjoyed this little peek into my world. Stay tuned for more adventures!
