Figuring Out the Instagram Photo Limit Thing
Okay, so I was scrolling through Instagram the other day, just minding my own business, you know? And then I saw it. Someone posted a carousel, but wait a minute… I swiped, and swiped, and kept swiping. It definitely felt like more than ten pictures. I counted a couple – yeah, like 12, maybe even 15 photos in one single post. My first thought was, how the heck are they doing that? I always hit that ten-photo wall whenever I try to share a bunch from a trip or event.
So, naturally, I had to try it myself. I opened up Instagram, hit the plus button to create a new post, and went to my gallery. I started selecting photos from my last weekend trip. One, two, three… I kept tapping… eight, nine, ten. And then, bam. The next photos I tried to select were grayed out. Couldn’t select number eleven. Still stuck at ten. Typical.
Alright, maybe there’s a trick? Or an update? I did a quick search online, just typed in something like “instagram post more than 10 photos”. Saw some chatter about Instagram testing out letting people post up to 15 photos. Some articles mentioned it was a new feature rolling out, maybe only to certain people or in certain places first. It wasn’t super clear, but the keyword seemed to be ‘update’ or ‘pilot’.
Made sense. So, my next step was obvious: check for app updates. I went straight to my phone’s app store. Searched for Instagram. Yep, there was an update pending. Didn’t say specifically “Now post 15 photos!” in the description, just the usual “bug fixes and performance improvements” stuff. But hey, worth a shot. I hit ‘Update’ and waited for it to download and install.
Once the update finished, I felt a little hopeful. I closed the app store, reopened Instagram, and went through the motions again.
- Tapped the ‘+’ icon.
- Selected ‘Post’.
- Started choosing my photos again… one, two… nine, ten…
And then I tried tapping the eleventh photo. Still grayed out. Nope, no change for me. Still capped at ten.
So, the conclusion I came to? It seems like this whole ‘posting more than 10 photos’ thing is real, but it’s not available for everyone just yet. Instagram’s probably testing it out, rolling it out slowly. There wasn’t some secret button I was missing or a special trick. It just depends on whether your specific account has gotten the feature enabled yet.
Guess I’ll just have to be patient and keep my app updated. If you’re seeing people post 15 pics and you can’t, you’re probably in the same boat as me. Just gotta wait until Instagram decides to bless us with the extra photo slots. For now, ten it is!
