Man, I’ve been digging into Cris Cyborg’s early days lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started off just wanting to see some old fight clips, you know? So, I fired up my computer and started searching around.
First thing I did was to pull up some basic info about her. Turns out her full name is Cristiane Justino, but everyone calls her Cris Cyborg. That’s kind of a cool nickname, right? She’s been around the block, too, fighting in UFC, Strikeforce, Invicta FC, and Bellator. She is the only MMA fighter who got the Grand Slam Champion!
I then wanted to see what kind of records she’s set. I mean, everyone says she’s a legend, but I wanted to see the numbers. Well, she’s 28-2-0 with 1 no contest. That’s insane! And she’s ranked number one in the Women’s Featherweight division. Makes sense, she’s a beast!
- Started searching for old fight videos. Found some from way back when she was just starting out.
- Looked up her record. It’s crazy impressive, like, seriously dominant.
- Checked out her early opponents. Some names I recognized, others I didn’t. But she was beating them all!
- Dug into when she started with UFC. I learned that before she finally got signed to the UFC in 2015, she had a really long winning streak.
Then I got into watching some of her early fights. She was so young, but even then, you could see she was something special. I mean, she was already taking down some of the top fighters in her division when she was just 22! She was just so aggressive and powerful, it was crazy to watch.
I spent a good few hours just going through her history, watching fights, and reading about her career. Honestly, it made me appreciate her even more. She didn’t just show up one day and become a champion, she really put in the work and fought her way to the top. It is really a feat to be marveled at.
The whole process really showed me how much she’s accomplished.
It’s been a fun deep dive. I always respected Cris Cyborg, but now I’ve got a whole new level of appreciation for her journey. She’s a true legend, and seeing how she got there just makes her story even more impressive. She won four belts over Julia Budd at Bellator 238. Before that, she already won her championship: Invicta, Strikeforce. That’s truly incredible.
