Can Sandygast be shiny in Pokemon Go? Get the latest updates on its shiny availability right here.

My Shiny Sandygast Hunt in Pokemon Go

Alright, let’s talk about Sandygast. That little sand mound ghost thing. I heard folks buzzing about whether you could actually get a shiny version in Pokemon Go. You know how it is, a new shiny pops up, and suddenly that’s all you want to hunt for.

So, I decided to dive in myself and see what the deal was. My mission: find out if shiny Sandygast is real, and more importantly, catch one for my collection. Gotta have that sparkly sandcastle, right?

Starting the Grind

First thing I did was just start checking every single Sandygast I saw. Doesn’t matter where. Walking the dog? Check Sandygast. Quick trip to the shops? Check Sandygast. Sitting on the couch? Incense on, check Sandygast.

I remembered hearing it became available sometime around a big event, I think it was one of those winter holiday events they do. Before that, nope, no shiny chance. But after that point, the switch was flipped. So, yeah, the shiny is in the game. Knowing that just made me want to find it more.

The Process – Tap, Check, Repeat

My process was pretty straightforward, nothing fancy:

  • See a Sandygast on the map.
  • Tap on it.
  • Wait for the encounter screen to load.
  • Look for those sparkles.
  • See the regular colors? Run away.
  • Repeat. A lot.

Honestly, it felt like hundreds. You see that little guy pop up, you get a tiny bit hopeful, then tap… nope, just the regular beige sand. Over and over. It’s the usual shiny hunting experience, really. You gotta just keep plugging away at it.

I focused during events where it might spawn more, checked field research tasks when they offered Sandygast encounters, sometimes even jumped into raids if it was featured. You cover all your bases, hoping one of them pays off.

Thinking Ahead: Shiny Palossand

Part of the drive wasn’t just the Sandygast itself. I knew if I got the shiny Sandygast, I could evolve it into shiny Palossand. That black sandcastle looks pretty cool, definitely wanted that too. You need the candies, of course, but getting the shiny base form is the hard part. That’s always the bottleneck.

So, Did I Get It?

Well, here’s the kicker. After all that tapping and checking… nope. Still haven’t bagged the shiny Sandygast. Seen plenty of the normal ones, maybe even enough candy to evolve a couple, but the shiny version is playing hard to get for me.

It’s definitely out there, people have them. It’s just super rare, like most shinies. It’s just a matter of luck, persistence, and tapping on every single one you see. The hunt continues, I guess. That’s Pokemon Go for you – sometimes you get lucky right away, other times you’re in for the long haul. I’ll keep checking, maybe one day!
