Okay, so I was messing around with making a calendar, and I wanted to do something different. I decided to go with the Mexican calendar because, why not? I’ve never looked into it before, and it sounded interesting.

First, I started to looking up online what the holidays were in Mexico. I found a bunch of websites, but none of them were very clear, to be honest. Some mentioned “statutory holidays” and others talked about “religious observances,” and it was all pretty confusing. I just wanted a simple list of holidays!
I dug a little deeper and found out that there are both official holidays and some other dates that are important but not necessarily days off work. Like, apparently, January 1st is a big deal (New Year’s Day, duh), and that’s an official holiday. But then there’s something called “Epiphany” or “Dia de los Reyes Magos” on January 6th. It’s a religious thing, but not everyone gets the day off work for it.
So I started to making a list. I jotted down all the holidays I could find, separating them into “days you definitely get off” and “days you might get off.” It wasn’t easy because different websites had different information, but I think I got most of them. February 2nd, for example, is apparently another important date, but I couldn’t figure out if it’s a day off or not.
After I had my list, I wanted to put it in a calendar format. I found some online tools that let you create custom calendars, but they were kind of a pain to use. I ended up just grabbing a blank calendar template and started filling in the dates manually. It was a bit tedious, but it got the job done.
I used different colors for the different types of holidays – green for the official ones, yellow for the maybe-days-off, and blue for just general observances. I think it turned out pretty decent, although I’m sure there are some errors. It’s hard to know for sure when you’re dealing with information from so many different sources.

Anyway, it was a fun little project. I learned a bit about Mexican holidays and got to make a cool-looking calendar. If anyone’s actually from Mexico and sees this, let me know if I messed anything up! I’m always open to learning more.
Here’s a rough version of what I came up with:
- January 1: New Year’s Day (Official Holiday)
- January 6: Epiphany (Religious Observance, maybe a day off)
- February 2: Some important date? (Need more info)
I’ve still got a lot more to add, but this is a start. It’s not perfect, but it was a good way to spend an afternoon. And, hey, now I know a little bit more about the Mexican calendar than I did before.
