Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea in my head for a while now: who are the best Lakers ever? I mean, this team’s been around forever and has had some seriously legendary players. So, I decided to dive deep and figure it out for myself, you know, for my own peace of mind.

First, I started thinking about the different eras. There was the Showtime era with Magic, Kareem, and Worthy. Man, those guys were something else. Five championships in nine years? That’s insane! I spent a good chunk of time watching old game highlights – seriously, Magic’s passes were unreal.
- Then there’s the Kobe and Shaq duo. Dominant is an understatement. They were a force of nature. I rewatched some of their playoff runs, and it’s just amazing how they complemented each other.
- And, of course, you can’t forget LeBron. The guy’s a beast, still going strong. I’ve been following his career since he was drafted, and it’s been a wild ride. He is leading the charge.
But then, I thought, “What about the older guys?” I mean, before my time. You hear about Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain. So, I started digging into that.
- I found out that those two were on the 1971-72 Lakers team. Some people say that’s the best team of all time, period. Can you believe that? I was amazed by that.
- Then, I did some research on the Boston Celtics, especially the 1957-1969 team. Bill Russell and Bob Cousy were great players at that time. They are the greatest dynasty in NBA history.
It was tough, let me tell you. Comparing players from different eras is like comparing apples and oranges. The game was so different back then. But, I made a list. My own personal top Lakers list. I won’t bore you with the whole thing, but I spent hours putting it together, moving guys around, arguing with myself in my head.
Finally, I realized, it’s not just about the stats or the championships. It’s about the impact they had, the memories they created, you know? I mean, when I think about the Lakers, I think about those iconic moments, those amazing plays. That’s what makes them the best, at least for me.
So, yeah, that’s my little journey into figuring out the best Lakers ever. It was a fun ride, and it definitely made me appreciate the team’s history even more. What are your thoughts?
