Okay, so let me tell you about this crazy thing I got into. It all started when I saw this video online about a baby pygmy hippo named Moo Deng. This little guy was all over the internet, and people were going nuts for him. I mean, who wouldn’t? He was cute, bouncy, and just looked like he was having the time of his life. I saw that his name, “Moo Deng,” means “bouncy pork” in Thai, which is just hilarious.
I started digging around to see what the deal was with this hippo. Apparently, he was born at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand. People were making memes, sharing videos, the whole nine yards. This little dude was a straight-up celebrity. I even saw that the zoo was trying to trademark his name! Can you believe that?
- I watched a bunch of videos of Moo Deng.
- Then I looked up where he lived.
- I found out that his name is a type of food!
- I realized this hippo was famous.
So, I got this wild idea. I decided I wanted to see if I could make something as popular as Moo Deng. Not a hippo, obviously, but something that would capture people’s attention like he did. I started brainstorming, thinking about what makes things go viral. It’s usually something cute, funny, or just plain weird, right?
I spent a few days just messing around, trying different things. I filmed my cat doing silly stuff, I tried to make some funny skits, but nothing really clicked. It was all just…meh. Then, it hit me. I remembered seeing this video of a horse doing this weird thing with its mouth. It was kind of gross but also really funny. I thought, “What if I could do something like that?”
So, I found a horse, it’s not as easy as it sounds, let me tell you. I spent hours trying to get this horse to do this weird mouth thing. It was a disaster. The horse was not having it, and I was getting frustrated. I almost gave up, but then I had a breakthrough. I realized I needed to use a different approach. Instead of trying to force it, I just let the horse do its thing and tried to capture it naturally. And guess what? It worked! I finally got the shot I was looking for. It wasn’t exactly like the video I saw, but it was close enough. It was like the horse was saying “didoo,” but in its own horsey way.
The Result
I edited the video, added some music, and posted it online. I called it “Asian Horse Didoo.” I didn’t really expect much, but then something crazy happened. People started watching it. And sharing it. And commenting on it. It was actually going viral! Not Moo Deng level viral, but still pretty good for a guy who just a few days ago was trying to make his cat famous. It was a lot of work. But I learned a lot about what makes things popular online and how to work with animals. Plus, I got a viral video out of it, so that’s a win in my book.
