Alright, let’s talk about these Kiss Emery Boards. My old nail files were just…sad. Worn down to practically nothing. So, I was wandering through the aisles at the drugstore, I think it was CVS, looking for replacements. Saw the Kiss brand – you know, they make all sorts of nail stuff – and grabbed a pack of their emery boards. Didn’t cost much, figured why not?

Getting Started
Got them home and opened the package. They looked like, well, emery boards. Nothing fancy. Just those cardboard sticks with the rough stuff glued on. There were quite a few in the pack, which was good.
I picked one up. It felt alright in my hand. Maybe a little on the thin side compared to some others I’ve used over the years, but it didn’t feel like it would snap right away. My nails were looking a bit ragged, especially after doing some gardening work, so I decided to put one to the test immediately.
Using Them
So, I sat down and started filing. I usually go for a slightly rounded shape. Started with the coarser side to knock down the length and rough edges. It worked, took off nail pretty effectively. Maybe a little too effectively if you’re not careful – gotta use a light touch. It did create a bit of that white dust, but honestly, most emery boards do.
Then I flipped it over to the finer side. Used that to smooth everything out, get rid of any snags. This side felt a bit gentler. Went back and forth, shaping and smoothing each nail.
- Shaping with the rough side.
- Smoothing with the finer side.
- Trying to get that even, rounded look.
Took maybe ten, fifteen minutes to do all my fingers. The process was pretty straightforward. No surprises, really.

The Outcome and Thoughts
End result? My nails looked much better. They were smooth, shaped up nicely, no more snagging on clothes. So, the boards definitely did their job. Can’t complain about the immediate results.
But here’s the thing – after using that one board just a couple more times over the next week or so, it felt like it wore down pretty fast. The grit, especially on the coarser side, just didn’t seem to last very long. The finer side held up a bit better. I found myself reaching for a fresh board from the pack sooner than I usually do with other brands I’ve tried.
So, yeah. The Kiss emery boards. They’re… fine. They work. They get the basic job done, especially if you just need something quick and easy. Are they top-tier, super durable, professional quality? Nah, I wouldn’t say so. They feel a bit disposable, you know? But they come in a multi-pack, they’re cheap, and you can find them pretty much everywhere. For a quick fix or just basic maintenance, they’re perfectly adequate. I’ve probably bought them again since then just out of convenience when my stash ran low. They do the trick when you need ’em.
