Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this old Honda 900 CBR, a 1992 model. It’s been a real project, let me tell you.

Getting Started
First thing, I got my hands on this bike. It was in rough shape, not running, sitting in a garage for years. I’m no mechanic, but I like to tinker, so I figured, why not?
The Teardown
I started by taking everything apart. I mean everything. I labeled stuff, took pictures, and put bolts in little baggies. I watched a ton of videos too. It was a mess, I won’t lie, parts everywhere.
- Carburetors were gunked up something awful. I soaked them in cleaner, scrubbed them, blew them out with compressed air. Took forever.
- Fuel tank was rusty. I used this vinegar trick I found online. It worked okay, but I still had to do a lot of scrubbing.
- Wiring was a nightmare. Mice had chewed through some of it, and it was all brittle and cracked. I spent days just tracing wires and patching things up.
Putting it Back Together
Once I cleaned everything and got some replacement parts, it was time to put it all back together. This was the hard part. I followed my pictures and notes, but there were still times I was totally lost.
I remember one time I spent hours trying to get the carburetors back on. I finally figured out I had a hose connected wrong. Stuff like that happened all the time.
The Moment of Truth
Finally, after weeks of work, I got it all back together. I put in some fresh gas, hooked up the battery, and hit the starter. It coughed a little, then roared to life! I couldn’t believe it. It was a rough idle, but it was running!

Fine-Tuning
It wasn’t perfect, of course. I had to adjust the carburetors a bunch of times to get it to idle right. I also had to bleed the brakes and adjust the clutch. But eventually, I got it running pretty smooth.
It’s still a work in progress, but I’m riding it now, and it’s awesome. It’s not the prettiest bike, but I built it, and that’s what matters.
