Okay, so “equinox horses,” huh? Sounds fancy, but really, it’s just about getting some cool lighting effects on horse photos during the equinox. I’m no pro photographer, but I thought I’d give it a shot and see what happened.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a horse. Luckily, my neighbor has a couple, and they’re pretty chill. I asked if I could borrow one for a bit, and they were cool with it, as long as I brought some carrots. Deal!
The Equinox Thing
So, the whole equinox idea is that the sun is positioned just right to create some interesting shadows and lighting. I figured the best time to try this was around sunrise or sunset, you know, golden hour and all that.
My (Messy) Process
- Wrangling the Horse: Getting the horse to stand still was…a challenge. More carrots were involved. Bribery works, people!
- Finding the Right Spot: I walked around the field for a bit, trying to find a place where the sun would hit the horse just right. Lots of squinting at the sky happened.
- Snapping Away: I just started taking pictures. Lots of them. I played around with different angles, some close-ups, some further away. I even got a few accidental selfies with the horse, which were pretty hilarious.
- Moving It:I move horse to different location, to caputure different light and shadow.
- Checking the Results: I kept looking at the back of my camera to see how the pictures were turning out. Some were blurry, some were too dark, but a few looked pretty cool!
The Outcome
Honestly, most of my photos were pretty average. But, I did manage to get a few that I really liked! The light was hitting the horse’s mane just right, creating this awesome glow. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely something different. I’m calling it a win, even if it was more about luck than skill.
My main takeaway? Photography is hard, horses are stubborn, and carrots are magic. If I were to do this again, I’d maybe do a bit more research on camera settings. But hey, it was a fun experiment, and I got to hang out with a horse, so I can’t complain!
