This here UConn football, they got a new way of playing defense, you know? They call it, uh, 3-3-5, or maybe 4-2-5, something like that. Some fella named Matt, he’s the one who brought it in. Said he learned it down in Mississippi, at that State place. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
Well, that Jim Mora fella, the head coach, he was talking about it just the other day. Said this new way, this new defense scheme, it’s gonna make things more even, you know? ‘Cause it’s kinda strange, kinda different. Ain’t nobody used to it. It’s a unique look, that’s what he said. He said it’s a “talent equalizer.” I don’t know what that really means, but I guess it means it’s good for UConn football. Hope it makes ’em win more games, that’s for sure.
He was saying something about how one of them safety fellas, he’s like a, like a mix, you know? A mix of things. And one of them linebacker fellas, he’s a mix too. They call it “hybrid.” Like them cars that run on ‘lectricity and gas both. Don’t rightly know what that means for football, but I guess it means they can do lots of different things on the field.
Last year, that UConn football defense, they weren’t so good, you know? I heard on the radio they was ranked way down there, like 95th or something. Not good at all. Maybe this new thing, this 3-3-5 defense scheme, maybe it’ll help ’em out. Lord knows they need it.

I remember back in my day, we didn’t have none of these fancy names for things. We just went out there and played. But I guess times change. Maybe this new-fangled way is better. Who knows? Just gotta wait and see, I reckon.
This UConn football team, they got a lot of work to do. Gotta learn all them new plays, gotta get stronger, gotta get faster. It ain’t gonna be easy. But that’s what it takes to win, I guess. Hard work and a little bit of luck.
Now, I ain’t no expert on football, not by a long shot. I just like watching the game. But it seems to me like this new defense scheme could be a good thing. It’s different, that’s for sure. And sometimes, different is good. It can confuse the other team, you see? Make ’em think twice.
I heard them talking heads on the TV say that this kind of defense, this 3-3-5 or 4-2-5, it’s good against them teams that like to throw the ball all the time. You know, them spread offenses, they call ’em. I don’t know much about that, but if it helps stop them other teams from scoring, then I’m all for it.
That coach, that Jim Mora, he seems like a smart fella. He knows what he’s doing, I reckon. He wouldn’t have brought in this new defense if he didn’t think it would work. He’s putting a lot of faith in that Matt fella, the one who brought it in from Mississippi. He must be pretty good too to get this new defense scheme adopted by UConn football. Hope he knows what he’s doing.

Well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. It’s gonna be interesting, that’s for sure. I’ll be watching them games, cheering them on. Hope they win a bunch of ’em. It’s always more fun when your team is winning, ain’t it?
This new defense scheme, it’s got people talking, that’s for sure. Everybody’s wondering if it’s gonna work, if it’s gonna make a difference. I guess only time will tell. But I’m hopeful. I think it could be a good thing for UConn football. It’s a good change for them.
They say change is good, right? Well, I hope this change is good for them boys. They deserve a little bit of good luck. They’ve been working hard, and I hope it pays off for ’em. I hope this new defense scheme brings them lots of wins. Go UConn!
