Okay, so, today I wanted to share my little adventure into learning some basic Japanese. I’ve always been a bit fascinated by the culture and figured, why not give the language a try? It’s called “Hai Japanese” because, well, “hai” means “yes” in Japanese, and it’s kind of like saying “yes” to this whole learning experience.

First off, I realized that watching some simple Japanese news would be a fun way to learn. There’s this cool TV program I found that’s all about Japan and uses easy Japanese. So, I started watching it every day. It’s not just about picking up new words, but also getting a feel for what’s going on over there. It’s like killing two birds with one stone, you know?
Then, I decided to get a bit more structured and found this online course. It talks about daily life and Japanese culture, which is exactly what I was looking for. It’s not too intense, just enough to keep me engaged and learning something new every day. I began the course from the beginning.
Now, for the actual learning part, I stumbled upon the idea that focusing on the most common words is a smart move. I read somewhere that if you learn, like, the top 1000 words, you’re pretty much golden. Plus, you get to learn Kanji along the way, which is a big bonus. So, I made a list of these common words and started memorizing them. And used a free online translation service offered by Google to help me figure out words or phrases I didn’t know. It’s super handy for a quick translation fix.
- Watch simple Japanese news.

- Study with a workbook called “Genki”.
I also got my hands on this workbook called “Genki”. It’s a popular one for beginners, and I can see why. The exercises are pretty straightforward, and they really help you get the basics down. I’ve been slowly working through it, and it’s been a big help.
So, that’s pretty much my journey with “Hai Japanese” so far. It’s been a fun ride, and I’m definitely learning a lot. It’s not always easy, but it’s super rewarding. If you’re thinking about learning a new language, just go for it! You might surprise yourself.
