So, I wanted to make a deck in my garden where I could chill out, but I didn’t know where to start. I went to The Home Depot and Tractor Supply Garden Center to look around. Browsing through, I saw those extra tall modern garden beds, 27 x 53 inches, looked pretty solid and sleek.

I thought, “Why not build elevated garden beds?” My yard’s soil isn’t the best, kinda compacted, you know? Building raised beds seemed like a good idea. I did some research, trying to figure out how to build these things. Found a guide that explained the basics, different types, and all that. Seemed doable.
Then I stumbled upon this modular metal raised garden bed kit, a 10-in-1 thing. It sounded cool, customizable, and sustainable, so I grabbed one. I also saw this irrigation system that claimed to make watering simpler. It’s designed to work with some cover system and a standard garden hose. The tubes just clip to the frame. Easy peasy.
I started putting the raised bed together. It was like a big puzzle, but the instructions were clear enough. The height was perfect, 32 inches. No more bending over and hurting my back! Once the bed was set, I filled it with soil and started planting. The whole process felt satisfying, like I accomplished something big.
The irrigation system was a breeze to install. I connected it to my garden hose, and it worked like a charm. Now, watering my plants is no longer a chore. It’s kinda like a waterfall, but in my garden. The plants seem to love it.
I also visited Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It’s a huge place, 67.5 acres, with over 24 different gardens. Gave me a ton of inspiration. I might add more stuff to my deck later on, but for now, I’m happy with how it turned out.
Here’s what I used, in case you’re curious:
- Extra tall modern garden bed (27 x 53 inches)
- 10-in-1 modular metal raised garden bed kit
- Irrigation system for easy watering
It’s not just a garden deck; it’s my little oasis. If you’re thinking about sprucing up your garden, I’d say go for it! It’s totally worth the effort.
