I had a really weird day messing around with some coding stuff, and I figured I’d share what happened. It all started when I was looking at this thing called “David Perez,” which is not really a coding thing, but it’s tied to this college, UC Davis. I was reading about their courses, and stumbled on a post about BIS 2B with Keen and Furrow, don’t know who they are but, hey, that’s where it all began.

So, I was deep in this rabbit hole, and next thing you know, I’m reading about something called “ICS” and “EOCs.” Sounds boring, right? Well, it kind of is. It’s all about planning and costs for incidents. But for some reason, I got stuck on it, I guess when you are in a rabbit hole everything seems interesting to know more about it.
Then came the actual coding part. I was trying to fix something in a URL, and there was this weird issue with “%2b” turning into a “+”. Someone online said it might be because of URLDecode. That was a head-scratcher, but I fiddled around with it for a while. I tried encoding and decoding, changing some settings, basically just poking around until it worked, I guess.
After that, I took a break from the computer and went out. I ended up near Ashburn Village Shopping Plaza. It’s this place in Ashburn, Virginia, a town that’s growing like crazy. The place has really easy access to Route 7 and some other roads like Gloucester Pkwy and Ashburn Village Blvd. I didn’t buy anything, just walked around, thinking about that URL problem. How crazy that a simple walk could make me feel so refreshed and energetic again.
Funny enough, when I looked up Ashburn later, I found out it’s a “census-designated place” with a population that’s exploded since 1990. Over 43,000 people now. That’s a lot of folks! I didn’t do much with this info, just found it interesting.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I did today:

- Started with some college course stuff, BIS 2B.
- Got sidetracked by incident planning info, ICS and EOCs.
- Wrestled with a URL decoding problem, %2b and +.
- Took a break at Ashburn Village Shopping Plaza.
- Learned some random facts about Ashburn, Virginia.
Takeaway of this adventure
So yeah, that was my day. A mix of random internet stuff, a bit of coding, and a walk around a shopping center. It wasn’t super productive, but sometimes you just gotta follow where your brain takes you, you know? Who knows what I’ll stumble upon next. That’s the beauty of the internet I guess, just follow what ever that interests you, you may find something useful!
